Description

Atlanta Lyric Theatre is seeking a Director of Development who will develop, plan, organize and implement fundraising strategies in support of the Lyric’s mission to produce the best in musical theatre while showcasing local professional talent. This position is responsible for the diversification and expansion of funding from a variety of sources, in partnership with the Lyric staff and our newly expanded Board of Directors.  The Director of Development will report directly to the Executive Artistic Director as a member of the Lyric’s senior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement an annual development plan that meets the organization’s financial needs, as approved in the annual budget.
  • Prepare and execute fundraising plans that include major gifts programs, annual fund strategies, sponsors, planned giving, fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Develop an effective corporate development strategy, focused on obtaining individual show and season sponsorships from local businesses.
  • Create a donor stewardship plan; form strong relationships with current donors and enhance communications designed to inspire continued and increased giving.
  • Research, author and manage public and private grant requests.
  • In partnership with the Development Committee, create a framework for the full Board’s engagement in fundraising activities
  • Manage the annual fund campaign.
  • Maintain effective record-keeping procedures to track current and prospective donors and accurately report all fundraising income
  • Monitor and manage the annual development budget and report progress regularly to the Board.

Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in non-profit fundraising; preferably in the Arts
  • Demonstrated success in securing sponsorships, grants and achieving fundraising goals
  • Ability to prepare budgets and financial reports.
  • Previous experience representing a non-profit organization in a variety of settings
  • Clear and persuasive communicator; previous public speaking experience

  • Familiarity with Marietta/Atlanta community
  • Organized, collaborative and flexible
  • Effectively handle multiple, competing priorities; realistically assess and communicate likely outcomes

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience.
