Director, Membership and Community Support

Make a difference doing important work with a successful, international not-for-profit organization. We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and creative person to lead our Membership Department.

This position develops department-level strategy with an enterprise perspective. This position provides vision for all membership recruitment, retention, and outreach activities; with a goal to ensure engagement and satisfaction of both new and existing members. This position is responsible for the development and execution of new services, policies, and programs in support of our community. This position directs SPIE’s multi-million-dollar portfolio of community support programs, evaluates their efficacy and ensures they meet Board established financial targets. In this position you would also be asked to identify and build alliances with other societies and institutions to improve global community support.

In addition to the above, this position works in close collaboration with Marketing to ensure promotional materials and messaging are appropriate and current. This position also serves as the liaison to the Membership and Communities Committee and supervises the liaisons of additional Board committees.

Full-time exempt position.

Education:  Bachelors degree in relevant field or equivalent experience; Masters degree preferred.

Experience:  Supervisory experience is required. Familiarity with budgeting, program development, change management, marketing, and the ability to direct projects from conception to completion. Strong oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data to inform decisions.
