The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is seeking an innovative, strategic, and entrepreneurial Director of Foundation and Corporate Engagement with skills and experience to actively negotiate six-to-seven figure grants and major gifts from foundations, corporations, and other private grant-making organizations. Reporting to and partnering with the Vice President of Development & Strategic Alliances, the Director will work with the growing Fundraising, Business Development and Strategic Communications team to develop mission-centered funding opportunities that advance the work of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) and its Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI).

The Director will be a front-line senior-level fundraising professional whose primary responsibility is to grow the philanthropic revenue CTFK/GHAI secures from corporations and foundations. The Director is charged with setting the direction, implementing efforts, and ensuring the success of the corporate and foundation fundraising program. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and energetic individual who functions well in a fast-paced team environment, which includes cross-department coordination and the ability to work directly with and engage colleagues. The initial fundraising goal for this position will begin at $500K annually and grow to $3M annually.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH:

•Develop, manage, and implement an annual development and stewardship plan to meet goals established for foundation and corporate revenue.

•Maintain and track pertinent foundation and corporate outreach – including cultivations, solicitations, and other activities. Maintain an overview of all donor submissions and awards and build pipeline for solicitation.

•Engage in foundation and corporate prospect research including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting sponsorships, grants, and gifts that support the current and future work of the CTFK/GHAI.

•Develop detailed proposals and reports that solicit and tie funding and financial investment opportunities to the work of CTFK/GHAI. Write foundation grant requests and reports.

•Maintain on-going communication with foundations and corporate donors related to the strategic goals and outcomes of the organization.

•Assist with execution of special events and other opportunities to engage corporate and foundation sponsorships.

•Work with the CEO, Executive Team, and program staff to align CTFK and GHAI fundraising with program priorities and include program staff in development activities, as appropriate.

•Effectively prepare meeting materials, stewardship reports, proposals and major gift solicitations.  Manage communication and donor interactions with program leadership.

•Utilize Raiser’s Edge to track and manage donor/prospect portfolio and monitor foundation and corporate results toward fundraising goal; adhere to timely reporting of results to ensure accuracy of the fundraising pipeline and year-long projection forecasts.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

•Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships with corporations and foundations.

•Reliable, responsive follow up and proactive outreach.

•Ability to visualize and implement the growth of the development department.

•Willingness to operate creatively and lead and support a fundraising infrastructure for foundation and corporate giving at a time of required innovation, rebuilding, and strengthening its current funding portfolio and growing diversified support at every level – from mid-level and major gifts to large philanthropic investments in support of core strategic priorities and programs more effectively.

SKILLS YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

•Bachelor’s degree

• Seven (7) to ten (10) years of successful corporate and foundation fundraising experience, and a track record of effective not-for-profit development, including fundraising for an advocacy organization.

•Solid record of increased and diverse fundraising growth with demonstrated sustained activity.

•Proactive, highly motivated self-starter with a highly engaged, entrepreneurial spirit.

•Record of successfully engaging leadership in the fundraising process.

•Effective, professional relationship management skills with the ability to exercise good judgment when interacting with stakeholders, donors, and constituents.

•Excellent organizational skills, attention to details with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet frequent deadlines and prioritize work.

•Possess a collaborative work style and strong interpersonal skills to interact with staff, key stakeholders, and donors in a manner that shows understanding of the mission.

•Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

•Willing and able to travel to manage portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects and to open and close deals as needed.

•Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge fundraising software.

•Supervisory experience a plus.

•Demonstrable commitment to the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct.
