Position Title: Development Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Full-Time

Pay Range: $58,500 - $65,000

FLSA Classification: Exempt

SUMMARY

The position is responsible for all aspects of fund development to support a million-dollar-plus annual operating budget, which includes overseeing, developing, maintaining, and evaluating ECHOS’ donor relations, grant writing, fundraising, event planning, public relations, communication, and marketing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Donor Relations

1. Ensures funders are properly stewarded through all cycles of the donation-solicitation process.

2. Reconcile the tracking of donor relations, donations, and efforts in collaboration with the Development Coordinator and Executive Assistant.

3. Maintain current donor management system records and database.

4. Receive monetary or related donations as needed.

5. Continuously seek ways to strengthen donor relationships and increase donor retention.

6. Provides regular reports of donor and gift activity to the Executive Director, Fund Development Committee, and Board of Directors.

Grant Writing and Business/Foundation Solicitations

1. Gauge new funding opportunities.

2. Meet with businesses, civic organizations, and community partners for solicitation and education.

3. Solicit funds through grants and business and foundation requests.

4. Grant reporting and compliance.

5. Collaborate with the appropriate ECHOS staff to verify the information for funding requests and reporting.

6. Maintain a detailed tracker containing information on grant submissions, awards, and opportunities.

Marketing and Communications

1. Develop the story of the agency, client stories, and staff engagements for print and digital media.

2. Oversee social media, websites, and print material.

3. Plan, manage, and coordinate the production and communication of newsletters, publications, brochures, flyers, and related collateral materials.

Event Planning and Fundraising

1. Promote and coordinate events with the Executive Director, in collaboration with the Fund Development Committee.

2. Work directly with Executive Director to establish annual fundraising plans.

Agency Relations

1. Provide oversight, leadership, and support to the Development Coordinator and Community Engagement Coordinator.

2. Work in collaboration with the Fund Development Committee Chair to carry out and advance fundraising efforts.

3. Participate in meetings, as requested.

4. Perform general office duties, including document management, copying, faxing, and office supply management.

5. Other related tasks as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

An experienced fund development professional with a demonstrated track record of raising funds via major gifts, planned gifts, fundraising events, business partnerships, and grants.

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit administration, business administration, communications, or a similar field is required. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role is required. A Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential is strongly preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations

A Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential is strongly preferred. This position requires the ability to travel and provide transportation. Must have a clear child abuse history. A criminal background check is required, but history does not necessarily negate eligibility.

6. Ability to work and communicate with staff, donors, vendors, and community agencies with the appropriate level of cooperation and assertiveness as situations demand.

7. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

10. Must be able to use standard office equipment, including computer, printer, scanner, multi-line telephone system, copy machine, and fax machine.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time.

2. Regularly required to move about the office/complex.

3. Regularly required to maintain balance while walking, standing, or crouching.

4. Regularly required to type, grasp, pick up, move, and hold objects.

5. Regularly required to verbally express information or instructions.
