Description

The dynamic and growing development team of the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law is seeking a talented communications specialist interested in working at a nonprofit social justice organization. The Development Communications Writer will enthusiastically assist in the research, communications, and outreach needed to nurture existing funding relationships and to build new ones.

Key Features of this Job:

  • Draft and produce public materials about the Buhai Center’s clients, services, and activities;
  • Assist with managing and drafting content for the Buhai Center’s website, blog, social media, newsletters, and other communications;
  • Research and prepare proposals for new and existing private funding opportunities;
  • Prepare required reports, monitor project progress, and maintain effective communication with grant funders.

Essential Job Qualifications:

  • An AA or BA with a focus in one of the following fields: Communications, Philanthropy, Marketing, or Nonprofit Management;
  • Strong communicator, having excellent writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated communications writing experience;
  • Creative and strategic thinker;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

Desired but Not Required:

  • A minimum of 1 year demonstrated successful experience in a communications role;
  • Grant writing experience;
  • Software skills - WordPress, Constant Contact or similar email service provider, Microsoft Publisher, or Adobe Creative Suite.

 

Start Date: ASAP

Position: Full-time, non-exempt, 37.5 hours/week

Salary and Benefits: Salary $48,000-$51,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include: medical, dental, and vision insurance; voluntary employee retirement plan; paid vacation and holiday leave; reimbursed travel and educational expenses

Location: Hybrid; Office in Los Angeles/Koreatown
