Description
CASA of Berks County provides high-quality advocacy services to abused and neglected youth in the child welfare and family court system. The Advocacy Coordinator manages CASA volunteers in the family court and child welfare systems with the goal of ensuring that abused and neglected children in the foster care system receive effective advocacy and permanency planning. Our staff is a team of highly driven individuals committed to the organization’s mission. Each team member is responsible for his or her own responsibilities but also has ownership of the overall organizational success.
Our Advocacy Supervisors and Coordinators are from diverse backgrounds and are the key professional support for our volunteer advocates. Our staff has worked as child welfare workers, daycare workers, teacher aids, and one as a small business owner. Our advocacy team brings a deep passion for the children we serve and the volunteers who support them.
Despite our diverse backgrounds, our Advocacy Team share common characteristices: they are smart and professional, perceptive about human behavior, hungry for knowledge, comfortable in the courtroom, in schools, and in a non-profit work environment, and tireless and strategic in their advocacy efforts. Their time is spent interacting with volunteer advocates and with professionals in the child welfare community, editing and revising reports to the court, as well as dealing with an array of administrative tasks professionally and confidently.
