Job Overview
The FWC currently has an extraordinary opportunity for an innovator to join the team as the Director of Foundation Programs. We are looking for an individual to bring their passion and excitement to our fast-paced and ever-changing environment. The successful incumbent will be highly detail orientated, innovative, and collaborative while managing a team and multiple projects simultaneously. They will see the big picture and embrace change to ensure they meet their goals and the goals of the FWC.
This role works in close partnership with the FWC Chief Development Officer as some programs have both an education/awareness component as well as development. The position also collaborates with internal teams and external partners to enhance the foundation’s key programs. The Director of Foundation Programs will personify the SGO/FWC internal values of Integrity, Communication, Equity, Innovation, and Excellence.
What You Will Do
The Director of Foundation Programs serves as part of the senior leadership team of the SGO and FWC and plays a crucial part in advancing the missions of both the SGO and the FWC by overseeing the design, implementation and evaluation of all FWC program initiatives. This position leads and is accountable for the development and delivery of programs that provide patient education, public awareness and deliver research grants and awards. The CEO of the SGO/FWC will be a key partner, empowering the Director and providing crucial support where needed.
Responsibilities include:
- STRATEGY, PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION, AND REPORTING - Lead the implementation of all strategic objectives that relate to delivery of programs and services including patient education and public awareness. Oversee the development of strategic communications and marketing strategies to promote the programs and work of the FWC, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications. Lead program, public awareness and patient education aspects of Move 4 Her, in partnership with Chief Development Officer and fundraising staff who will focus on fundraising components of the campaign. Serve as main project manager for M4H Signature events (including the Race to End Women’s Cancer and associated events), coordinating the work of SGO meetings team, FWC development, external race management vendor, SGO operations staff, marcom and others. Establish and implement guidelines to enhance equity and inclusion for programs and communications across the FWC. Develop culturally appropriate gynecologic oncology resources and outreach strategies to engage Black, Latine, and rural communities by adapting FWC resources for targeted outreach and education. Oversee clinical trial awareness initiatives to ensure equitable access to cutting-edge treatments. Establish and report on performance metrics to inform strategic decision-making. Partner with the development team on collaboration with industry partners, participating in meetings, developing programs that meet various needs, and providing outcome metrics and reports.
- PATIENT ADVOCACY - In partnership with volunteer leaders, develop plans for an advocacy coalition to identify and address gaps and needs across gyn cancers, fuel research and create a unified voice of community. Work with SGO to identify opportunities to facilitate partnership with patient advocates to help advance advocacy efforts that will directly impact patients. Develop and implement plans to provide resources to patients and advocates so they may advocate on their own behalf.
- PATIENT EDUCATION - Evaluate current plans and lead the development of new content to deliver patient education on the five types of gynecologic cancers working closely with volunteer leaders and staff. Delivery vehicles will include both in person education as well as online learning, information brochures and electronic delivery formats. Work with staff and volunteers, specifically the Patient Education Committee, to develop and deliver the education. Work with MarCom team to develop promotional plans to get the information out broadly and specifically to diverse and underserved populations. Ensure accurate website content and an exceptional user experience.
- PUBLIC AWARENESS - Build a strategy to increase public awareness of gynecologic cancers, specifically focusing on signs and symptoms, early detection and prevention. Some tools include Thrive newsletter and social media, developed in partnership with the MarCom team. Develop and maintain relationships with organizations that can help to increase public awareness of the FWC and its efforts. Establish strategies and programs to increase awareness in underserved communities. Provide oversight on the CHW training program, including program adaptation pilots in priority communities, national expansion efforts, and continued program sustainability. Staff in person outreach and awareness events, tabling, and sessions as needed.
- RESEARCH GRANT AND AWARD MANAGEMENT - Evaluate the process for promoting and managing the research grants and awards that are funded through the Foundation. Oversee the grant process and develop relationships with research grant and award winners to learn about their work. Work with the development team to leverage interviews with researchers and patients along with information about completed grants to increase funding for the research grant and award program.
- BUDGET DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT - Develop and monitor programs, research grants, and operating budgets. Work with development team and finance to manage grant support for programs. Manage relationships and contracts with outside vendors as needed.
- STAFF MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGIC INVOLVEMENT - Manage the selection, performance, and development of direct reports. Serve as a mentor and coach and identify opportunities for staff growth. Direct, supervise, and motivate staff to meet organizational goals. Encourage collaboration among team members and other staff to advance the organization. Serve as staff liaison for appointed committees.
Requirements for Success
- 7-10 years of experience in non-profit management and working with volunteer leaders.
- Proven success in developing and implementing strategic programs that achieve organizational goals.
- Professional experience with budgeting, strategic planning, vendor management, communications.
- Experience managing people to accomplish goals and complete projects.
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience. MSW, MPH or other health-related professional degree is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including MSWord, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
In addition, the Director of Foundation Programs will have successfully managed change; be an innovative problem-solver; demonstrate powerful influence through exceptional communication skills; demonstrate agility, managing complex relationships with grace, confidence, and sensitivity; and serve as a role model for integrity and professional conduct.
The work of the FWC is conducted primarily in a remote office environment with occasional requirements to be onsite for group meetings and events. Travel is required approximately 10-15 days per year.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience. The hiring range for this position is $120,000-$130,000. Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability benefits; vacation time, sick time, 11 named holidays and 3 floating holidays, and parental leave.
