Description
UniHealth Foundation, an independent private healthcare foundation, seeks a Director of Accounting and Finance (Director) to serve as the organization’s senior finance executive. The Foundation’s responsive grantmaking supports and facilitates activities that significantly improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities. UniHealth is committed to becoming a pacesetter in healthcare philanthropy, supporting innovative activities while provoking and sustaining changes that positively impact health. The Foundation prioritizes funding innovative and sustainable programs that serve the most vulnerable populations and those with the greatest need in Southern California and beyond. With a history of impactful grantmaking and fostering collaborative partnerships, the Foundation creates connections, collaboration, and inspiration across the healthcare continuum.
The Director will develop financial strategies and manage a substantial endowment to advance UniHealth’s mission and objectives. As part of an engaged and efficient Executive Leadership Team and dedicated staff, the Director will report to and serve as a business and thought partner to the President and Chief Operating Officer while supporting a prestigious, high-performing Board. This hands-on strategist will thrive in a collaborative and agile environment where everyone contributes. Responsible for a small team and the department's daily operations to maintain financial integrity, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance operational efficiency, the successful candidate will have at least eight years of progressive leadership experience managing finance, accounting, budgeting, and reporting functions in a best-in-class, mission-driven organization. This represents an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and tactical finance leader to contribute to maximizing the impact of the Foundation’s significant investment in the region’s health and well-being.
Location
UniHealth recently acquired and is renovating a building in Pasadena that will serve as the Foundation’s headquarters. Located near the heart of Old Town, the city’s commercial center, the new space is designed to accommodate the Foundation staff and promote collaboration by providing suites for community partners and a small conference center. The team will remain in Glendale until the Foundation relocates, which is scheduled for fall 2025.
As an active and visible team member, the Director is expected to be a presence and resource on-site. Remote work is both permitted and anticipated as part of this role. Currently, the team works in the office at least two days a week. Once the move to Pasadena is complete, all Foundation staff will work on-site three days a week.
Compensation
UniHealth Foundation offers a highly competitive compensation package that includes an annual salary ranging from $170,000 to $210,000, enhanced by a discretionary, performance-based bonus opportunity; a 15% yearly contribution to the employer-sponsored IRA; and an attractive benefits package featuring 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for staff and their dependents, along with paid time off. The final offer will depend on various factors, including educational qualifications, training, years of experience, and performance in prior positions.
