Description

PAX - Program of Academic Exchange - is currently hiring, and you may be an excellent fit for this rewarding opportunity.

Do you enjoy being involved in your local community? Are you passionate about helping people connect and learn about diversity, different cultures, and other countries? Would you like to earn extra income and travel incentives while working with local families and international exchange students? If so, this position may be right for you.

The Community Coordinator role is a part-time, independent contractor (1099) position. Responsibilities include recruiting families in your community who are interested in hosting an exchange student for either a 5- or 10-month program.

Additional duties include interviewing and approving host families, as well as providing ongoing support through monthly check-ins, calls, and/or planned activities that fit your schedule.

We are seeking someone who is caring, outgoing, and responsible; capable of writing an effective paragraph; and able to respond appropriately in emergency situations. This role involves mentoring both teenage exchange students and their host parents. Applicants must be 25 years of age or older.

Training is provided online at no cost and includes testing and certification upon completion.

How To Apply

Once your application is received, we will follow up with the next steps, which include pre‑interview questions, a background check, and an interview. We offer online training that you can complete from home on your own schedule, followed by a nationwide certification test.
The rewards of being a Community Coordinator are numerous—especially if you enjoy working with international teens and engaging with people in your community. The primary responsibilities of this role include:
  • Recruiting and screening volunteer host families who will welcome students into their homes for a semester or academic year. Recruitment methods may include outreach through local churches and community groups, social media, or booths at festivals and community events. Training is provided on how to properly screen potential host families.
  • Working with local high schools to secure enrollment for exchange students.
  • Providing supervision and support throughout the academic year by maintaining monthly contact with students and their host families.
As an independent contractor, your income is based on the number of students placed and the time you choose to devote to the role. Many coordinators balance this position alongside a full‑time job, while others focus on it more extensively. Some view it as a paid hobby or a meaningful way to give back to their community. While this role does not provide a steady or primary income, it does offer commission payments for successful student and family matches along with monthly payments for supervision.  Another benefit in this position is the placement points which are accumulative for domestic and international travel.  We also offer bonus's for a certain number of placement matches or specific countries.
High school students from around the world come to the United States to experience American life while studying abroad. Your role will be to identify local schools willing to enroll exchange students and to find host families living near those schools. Coordinators are paid for each student placement and supervision.  You may earn bonuses, and can accumulate points toward domestic and international travel.
