Description
As a member of Wu Yee’s Executive Leadership team, the Chief Development Officer is responsible for leading fundraising efforts, developing and implementing fundraising strategies and cultivating relationships with donors and stakeholders. They are responsible for leading and building the development team, managing fundraising operations and ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability.
We are seeking a hands-on fundraiser who is experienced in building and running a development team while also energized by executing front line fundraising activities. Wu Yee operates in the City of San Francisco, knowledge of and experience with funders in California, the Bay Area and San Francisco is required.
Location: 1435 Stockton Street, San Francisco
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the Wu Yee’s mission and goals. This includes identifying pursuing various funding sources, such as individual donors, foundations, corporations and government grants.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, cultivating a culture of philanthropy and ensuring effective donor engagement.
- Oversee all aspects of fundraising operations including donor database management, gift processing, reporting and compliance.
- Build, mentor and manage a team of development professionals.
- Oversee Wu Yee’s development support vendors.
- Collaborate with finance department to develop and manage fundraising budgets, track progress towards financial goals, and provide regular reports to the executive team and board.
- Represent the organization to external stakeholders, including donors, community leaders, and partner organizations, promoting the organizations mission and fundraising priorities.
- Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals to generate revenue and raise awareness for the organization.
- Oversee the grant writing process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions, and managing grant-funded projects
- Ensure compliance with all relevant fundraising regulations and reporting requirements.
- Oversee Wu Yee’s marketing and communications function to enhance the organizations visibility and outreach.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions with executive team and board to build Wu Yee’s long-term sustainability and impact.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills Required:
- Proven track record of successfully leading development function at a similar education/social services organization
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and fundraising needs to various audiences
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, stakeholders and community partners
- Ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies and plans
- Understanding of nonprofit financial management and budgeting principles
- Extensive experience working with donor databases. Experience with Salesforce a plus
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary $200,000 - $226,262
