Description

Everytown for Gun Safety is seeking an Associate Director of Institutional Giving to join our development team. The Associate Director of Institutional Giving’s primary role is to secure funding for Everytown by cultivating relationships with foundations and corporations — a growing segment of our overall fundraising strategy.

This position requires a strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for advancing Everytown’s mission to end gun violence. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with the Development Director, program staff, and senior leadership to identify funding opportunities, develop compelling proposals, and steward relationships with institutional donors. They will also be responsible for all aspects of the grant management process, including fulfilling reporting requirements.

This position will be based from our NYC office and will adhere to a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days remote).

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Work with the Development Director to write and execute a plan for Everytown’s institutional giving strategy.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the development team and organizational leadership on overlap between institutional giving, individual giving, and other fundraising initiatives.

Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with the staff of current institutional donors in order to leverage opportunities to continue and increase their support.
  • Identify and research prospective institutional donors whose priorities align with Everytown’s mission and programs.
  • Develop and execute customized cultivation strategies for prospective donors in order to gain their support.

Proposal Development 

  • Lead the development of high quality proposals that effectively communicate Everytown’s funding needs and impact.
  • Collaborate closely with program leads to get an in depth understanding of their department’s work and how to communicate it in proposals to funders.
  • Maintain other fundraising pitch materials and standard reports that can be used to communicate with current and prospective funders.

Grant Management 
Oversee all aspects of the grant management process from start to finish, including:

  • Track proposal and application requirements and deadlines
  • Shepherd grant agreements through the approval process and track all reporting requirements
  • Work with the finance and operations teams to monitor restricted grant budgets and ensure compliance with funder requirements
  • Work with program and finance staff to prepare and submit narrative and financial reports

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in institutional fundraising at a large nonprofit — experience at an advocacy organization is a plus
  • Proven track record of successfully securing grants of six figures or more from foundations and corporations
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with institutional donors and key stakeholders
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives, proposals, and reports
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000-$95,000. Everytown offers a generous benefits package including Medical, Dental and Vision benefits, PTO, 401K Match, Education Assistance and more.
