Job Description
Organizational Summary:
Playwrights Horizons is a non-profit Off-Broadway theater in New York City committed to the advancement of bold and visionary contemporary playwrights, through the development and production of daring new work and the education of future theatermakers.
Position Overview:
Are you the person everyone turns to when Tessitura gets tricky? Do you thrive on making systems run smoother, cleaner, and smarter? Playwrights Horizons, a leading New York City nonprofit Off-Broadway theater, is looking for a Tessitura Data & Operations Manager to be our in-house Tessitura expert and champion.
In this role, you’ll manage every aspect of our Tessitura ecosystem—RAMP, TNEW, integrations, analytics—and collaborate across Box Office, Development, Finance, General Management and Marketing to ensure we’re making the most of our data. You will be empowered to recommend and implement changes that improve workflows, integrations, and analytics, and impact how we engage audiences, raise funds, strengthen our financial health, and deliver bold new theater to the community.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who keeps complex initiatives moving through milestone tracking and consistent follow-through. We value curiosity, problem-solving, and cross-department collaboration, and encourage growth through peer networking and community connection.
This position is based in New York City in a hybrid work environment (3 days in person). Remote work arrangements may be possible for highly qualified candidates.

Director of Marketing & Communications
Duties & Responsibilities:
Database Management
- Oversee all Tessitura products and services (RAMP, TNEW, Campaigns, List Manager, Segmentation Engine)
- Manage integrated third-party systems (DPS Payment Express, Wordfly, Adyen, and future integrations) in collaboration with related departments
- Set up and maintain data management policies, including data cleanup and maintenance
- Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with best practices
Data & Reporting
- Build and manage dashboards in Tessitura Analytics to support departmental needs
- Use Tessitura Business Intelligence tools to help departments analyze sales, contributions, and engagement trends.
- Produce and distribute actionable reports for all departments as needed.
- Provide data and reporting as needed for financial reconciliations, audit preparation, and month/year-end reports
Training & Support
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Tessitura use
- Train new and existing staff on Tessitura features and best practices
- Serve as the main contact for all Tessitura-related troubleshooting
- Represent Playwrights Horizons in the Tessitura Network community
- Maintain professional relationships with Tessitura contacts and peer organizations
- Relay updates and new developments to staff database users
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Recommend and implement changes to workflows, data structures, and integrations that improve team efficiencies
- Ensure timely and accurate sharing of interdepartmental data
- Build and maintain Memberships, Campaigns and Appeals in collaboration with the Development and Marketing teams
- Support the Box Office in building, and launching new events and ticketing processes
- Develop and manage project timelines for Tessitura-related initiatives, ensuring deliverables are met and progress is communicated to all relevant stakeholders
- Work with the Box Office Manager and Tessitura Extended Services team to problem solve, maximize efficiency, and collaborate on new ideas
- Support other organization database system implementation and integration as needed
System Optimization & Innovation
- Regularly audit systems to identify improvements and recommend upgrades
- Ensure best-practice web integration with TNEW, optimizing customer experience
- Manage Wordfly integration for targeted email campaigns and automated communications
- Explore new Tessitura features and integrations to enhance organizational efficiency
Skills, & Qualifications:
Required
- Significant hands-on experience with Tessitura database management, including troubleshooting, reporting, and data entry
- Experience with SQL, TNEW, and Tessitura Campaigns
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong follow-through on commitments with clear, proactive communication to stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience with Financial Edge or similar accounting systems
- Experience creating dashboards in Tessitura Analytics and using the Business Intelligence suite
- Familiarity with box office/ticketing functions in Tessitura
- Experience with Asana or similar ticket tracking/project management systems
Nice to Have
- Involved with Tessitura network community
- Familiarity with integrations with Mail2, Wordfly, DPS Payment Express, or Adyen
- Interest in the arts or nonprofit sector
Compensation
Playwrights Horizons offers a comprehensive benefits package including 10 days (two weeks) of vacation, four personal days, and 10 sick days. Employees have access to individual medical, dental, and vision coverage, with various plan options available through Oxford Health Plans. Playwrights Horizons partially subsidizes health and dental insurance and provides vision insurance at no charge to employees. Our benefits package further includes life insurance policy, a 403b retirement plan, and flexible spending accounts for medical, dental, and dependent care expenses. Other perks include a health reimbursement account, Transitchek for transportation expenses, and complimentary and staff-rate tickets to our productions.
Salary: $65K–$75K
