Formed in 2023 as a 501(c)(3), the Texas Immigration Law Council (TxILC) is a nonpartisan, statewide immigration legal resource and policy organization working to protect and promote the rights of immigrants and refugees of all nationalities in Texas. Opportunity Summary

TxILC seeks a communications professional to help (1) design marketing and development-oriented communications to help articulate TxILC’s mission, goals and accomplishments. and (2) implement an online community engagement platform. The anticipated level of effort for this contract position is between 2 to 4 days a week or between 16 and 30 hours per week.

Marketing Communications

The Contractor would report to the Policy & Communications Manager and support TxILC’s communications team to curate content and strategies that compellingly communicate TxILC’s mission, vision, and impact to a broad range of audiences—including funders, community leaders, partners and the general public. Responsibilities are detailed below.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with TxILC’s communications team, develop, implement, and evaluate its community engagement strategy that helps inform, inspire, and motivate engagement across TxILC's platforms.
  • Support internal and programmatic communications by developing clear, engaging content that helps articulate organizational priorities, highlight program impact, and inform key audiences, including staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as project manager for the design, implementation, and launch of TxILC’s new online community engagement platform, ensuring alignment with TxILC’s brand and audience needs.
  • Support the development and distribution of marketing and fundraising materials—including web content, donor materials—across TxILC’s website, engagement platform, and other channels.
  • Promote and support online and virtual events that engage TxILC target audiences and elevates its initiatives.
  • Track, measure and analyze the level of engagement within TxILC network over time, and recommend strategies to build momentum based on data analysis.
  • Provide clear impact metrics on messaging that demonstrates TxILC reach, engagement and outcomes for use in documents such as grant proposals and its annual report.

Qualifications

The Contractor should have at least four years of experience in communications, marketing, or community engagement. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages to the right audience through the best distribution channels is critical. Specific requirements include:

  • A highly collaborative style.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications and development strategies for nonprofits that include the use of social media as a communications and marketing vehicle.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
  • High energy and maturity with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with TxILC’s constituent groups including clients, cohort members, staff, volunteers, donors, board members, and other supporters.
  • Self-starting, able to work independently, entrepreneurial, and energized by creating and implementing new initiatives to drive impact.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, Word Press, Google Analytics, Constant Contact, Zoom, and mainstream social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, etc.).

Location & Travel Demands

As a 6-month contract-based position, this remote position can be performed from anywhere from within the United States.
