The Gift Officer must be able to handle multiple priorities at one time and keep meticulous records.
The Gifts Officer will further increase the base of support through outreach and relationship building, including in-person meetings, telephone communication, and written/electronic correspondence, and develop, prepare, and present fundraising proposals to donors and prospects, assisting with benefit fulfilment and monitoring compliance of any donor restrictions/reporting requirements.
Additional duties include: regularly attending concerts to become well-informed about the artistic product and to visit with donors, actively pursuing the donor cultivation objectives of each event; sharing information from donor visits with colleagues in and out of the department as appropriate and documenting all relevant donor communication and learnings in CRM software, Tessitura, in a timely manner; and assisting with general office functions including attending/staffing events, helping with mailings and other duties as assigned.
The qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of relevant fundraising experience. Previous experience in a nonprofit organization is preferred. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of working effectively with donor prospects from research/qualification stage to closing gifts as well as a donor-centric approach externally and team-player approach internally (both inter- and intra- departmentally). Knowledge of current issues and best practices in development is essential, as is a demonstrated interest in the art form and a willingness to learn. A high degree of organization and attention to detail is required. Candidate must possess the ability to listen carefully, speak articulately and with enthusiasm, and work with confidential information. Must be willing to travel locally, nationally, and internationally for donor cultivation purposes, when appropriate. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/Development software is required (Tessitura preferred).
