Description

Fundraising Staff Member – International Center for Building Integrated Agriculture (ICBIA)
Location: Arizona or Remote
Compensation: Performance-Based Salary
About Us
The International Center for Building Integrated Agriculture (ICBIA) is a mission-driven organization founded on the principles of the Golden Rule—treating others as we wish to be treated—and economic democracy, ensuring fairness, shared resources, and equal participation in all initiatives.
Our flagship project is the state-of-the-art rooftop, solar-powered, IoT-managed controlled-environment greenhouse, designed to serve as a community-based learning center. This initiative promotes ethical sustainability, offering hands-on education in modern agriculture while fostering inclusion for homeless individuals, youth, and formerly incarcerated people.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate Fundraising Staff Member to help raise fund to design, construct, equip, and operate this innovative learning center, ensuring that our work remains ethically grounded and mission-aligned.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute ethical and effective fundraising strategies that align with the values of transparency, integrity, and community empowerment.
• Cultivate relationships with corporate partners, grant organizations, and individual donors through mission-driven storytelling.
• Write grant proposals and funding appeals that emphasize sustainability, education, and the importance of accessible community-based learning.
• Organize fundraising events and digital campaigns to amplify engagement and impact.
• Ensure that donor outreach adheres to the Golden Rule, prioritizing respect, honesty, and social responsibility.
Ethical Considerations in Performance-Based Fundraising
While our fundraising structure includes performance-based compensation, we hold ethical accountability at the core of our practices:
- No donor exploitation – Fundraisers must engage donors through education, inspiration, and authentic connection rather than high-pressure tactics.
- Mission over profits – Fundraising efforts must reflect ICBIA’s commitment to community empowerment, not financial incentives.
- Transparency and trust – All contributions are handled with openness, ensuring donors see the real-world impact of their support.
- Collective progress – We promote economic democracy, where funds and success are shared equitably, fostering mutual benefit rather than individual financial gain.
Qualifications
✔ Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
✔ Experience in fundraising, donor relations, marketing, or ethical campaign strategies.
✔ Knowledge of sustainable agriculture, IoT-managed greenhouses, or environmental initiatives (preferred but not required).
✔ Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a passion for ethical social impact.
✔ Familiarity with responsible fundraising practices and donor engagement strategies.
Compensation & Ethical Model
As a Golden Rule-based organization, we structure performance-based fundraising in a way that aligns with our ethical commitments:
• Compensation is tied to fundraising success, but NOT at the cost of integrity or ethical donor relations.
• Fundraisers receive mission-driven guidance to ensure that their strategies prioritize education, empowerment, and transparency.
• We emphasize collaborative success, rewarding team achievements over individual competition.
