The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation is currently hiring for a new Executive Director.

*Please note: This Executive Director position will not be employed by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District; this position is with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation, a separate nonprofit organization.*

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District (LVCCLD) Foundation is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit corporation that expands the programs and reach of the Library District. Foundation efforts align with Library District goals to be a key community asset in learning, employment, and community vitality. The Foundation attracts new resources for Library District service innovations and partnerships that improve the educational, economic, and social well-being of people and communities in Southern Nevada. Overall Position PurposeThis is an advanced fundraising position responsible for the strategic direction, tactical execution, oversight, and leadership of the LVCCLD Foundation. Work involves planning, managing, cultivating, and securing philanthropic support for the Foundation's annual fund, endowment, and program support of the Library District. Oversight also involves maximization of revenue creating and growing the Friends of LVCCLD membership program. This role is an external, collaborative member of the Executive Director of the Library's development team and will contribute to the Library's brand and external profile through their activities in the community. They may represent and lead the library in major campaigns and planned giving programs, as an employee of the LVCCLD Foundation.

Base Salary: $105,000 to $145,000, plus additional compensation of $15,000 to purchase benefits. This position will be eligible for an annual merit increase based on performance.

Location/Considerations: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), in-person position based at the Windmill office located at 7060 W. Windmill Lane in Las Vegas. Frequent donor and other meetings at offsite locations will be required.

Reports To: This position reports directly to the LVCCLD Foundation Board Chair.

Direct Reports: Directly supervises assigned Foundation staff, which may include leased staff and consultants.

Other Key Relationships: Executive Director of the Library; LVCCLD Public Library Staff; Donors; Media; City Agencies; Vendors; Consultants.

 

Essential Functions:

A. Fundraising and Development

  1. Assesses fundraising needs by working with Foundation Board members and the Executive Director of the Library to establish goals and develop a strategy to meet needs.
  2. Maintains a personal portfolio of donors, consisting of individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  3. Develops fundraising campaigns and builds donor relationships based on best practices.
  4. Plans and implements fundraising strategies to move donors/prospects through the donor continuum. Cultivate and solicit to support and reach the established fundraising objectives. Provides leadership for stewardship of all gifts received by both the Library and Foundation.
  5. Creates and executes strategies to raise sustainable funds that allow the Foundation to achieve its mission and growth objectives.
  6. Develops plans to support and implement major gifts campaigns for long-term needs as identified by the Library.
  7. Develops and implements a detailed approach to attract, build, and maintain effective and mutually beneficial relationships with individuals and corporations capable of contributing to the Library Foundation.
  8. Cultivates potential and existing donors through intentional stewardship, ensuring all donors feel valued and inspired by the impact of their gift to the Library.
  9. Assesses the effectiveness of the various fundraising programs and makes appropriate recommendations to enhance Library financial resources and development functions.
  10. Understands and supports Library system policies and procedures.
  11. Actively supports the mission of the LVCCLD.
  12. Develops and executes a plan for Foundation growth and outreach.
  13. Creates new and innovative fundraising strategies tied to specific programs and/or library branches.

B. Board Relations

  1. Upholds the policies and procedures of the Foundation in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  2. Makes recommendations for new policies and procedures as needed.
  3. Provides leadership to the Foundation Board of Directors in developing and implementing a strategic plan and annual operating plan to guide fundraising efforts.
  4. Attends all Foundation Board of Directors meetings and prepares/presents reports, findings, developments, and updates as needed.
  5. Actively develops and maintains Board member relationships.
  6. Supports Board committees and provides appropriate resources.
  7. Coordinates training and education programs to strengthen and expand Board members' fundraising skills and contacts, when needed.

C. Fiscal and Budget Oversight

  1. Works closely with the LVCCLD’ s Director of Finance and Foundation Board Treasurer to oversee fiscal and budgetary activities of the Foundation.
  2. Assists the Library’s Senior Management team and Foundation Board in determining fiscal requirements relative to development activities. Prepares budgetary recommendations and monitors budget.
  3. Ensures appropriate maintenance of donor records in coordination with staff.
  4. Assists the Director of Finance and Foundation Board Treasurer in preparing financial reports related to donation activity.
  5. Oversees record management and expenditure reports for LVCCLD Foundation.
  6. Analyzes financial statements for accuracy and evidence of emerging challenges.

D. Communication & Marketing

  1. Works closely with LVCCLD Branding and Marketing and Foundation Board to generate consistent, effective communications promoting development efforts.
  2. Publicizes important gifts, programs, accomplishments, and/or events.
  3. Responds to media inquiries and represents the LVCCLD Foundation in all fund development matters.

E. Supervision

  1. Oversees Fundraising and office operations.
  2. Manages Foundation staff, leased staff, and any Consultants.

F. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for this position must meet either of the following:

  • Option 1:
    • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, public relations, nonprofit administration, or related field;
    • and five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant experience, with increasing levels of responsibility in leadership and an emphasis on fundraising and development.

OR

  • Option 2:
    • Advanced degree (Master/Doctoral) in business management, marketing, public relations, nonprofit administration, or related field;
    • and three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience, with increasing levels of responsibility in leadership and an emphasis on fundraising and development.
