Job Title: Executive Director   Organization: YouthLaunch

Location: Austin, TX

YouthLaunch was founded in 1994, and was inspired by the success of the Peer Assisted Leadership & Service (PALS) Program, which began at one Austin high school in 1980. The central purpose of the organization was and is to serve as a champion of the concept of youth empowerment through service.

Since its founding, YouthLaunch has initiated and participated in a wide variety of noteworthy programs and partnerships. The PALS class and mentorship program has been continuously offered in Austin ISD since 1980. Also, parallel programs have grown and flourished between Plan II students at the University of Texas at Austin and KIPP schools, as well as KIPP-graduated students at Austin Community College.

Our mission is to empower students to become civically engaged and socially skilled community citizens through training and experience in peer-to-peer mentoring. The interpersonal skills developed, and the profound self-confidence borne of meaningful service are keys to success and growth for young people today.

Position Summary:

The Executive Director will lead the organization to fulfill its mission, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and visionary leadership. This role involves managing programs, staff, fundraising, and partnerships to drive educational initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the YouthLaunch mission.
• Oversee daily operations, programs, and initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, donors, partners, and the community.
• Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor engagement, and events.
• Manage financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
• Recruit, develop, and supervise staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Report to and work with the Board of Directors to ensure organizational goals are met.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit or education sector.
• Strong fundraising, financial management, and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Commitment to educational equity and YouthLaunch’s mission.
