Job Description: Director of Strategic Growth
Sea of Life Caribbean Inc.
Location: Hybrid (Home based with annual international once a year)
Type: Contract
Compensation: $20,000 base pay
Reports to: Executive Director and Board Fundraising Committee
Management of: Capacity Building Specialist
About Sea of Life
Sea of Life (SoL) is a women-led conservation organization working throughout the Caribbean to
empower local communities to protect the sea. As a growing startup nonprofit, we are building a
team of leaders committed to advancing ocean conservation, equity, and community resilience.
Position Overview
The Director of Strategic Growth will lead fundraising strategy, partnership development, donor
engagement, and revenue generation to support SoL’s mission and expansion. This role combines
entrepreneurial innovation with relationship-driven fundraising and strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities
1. Development Strategy & Fundraising Leadership
• Build and execute a multi-year development strategy with support from the Executive
Director and Board of Directors.
• Lead the expansion and diversification of revenue through grants, major gifts,
sponsorships, and fee for services.
• Lead grant research, writing, and reporting.
• Facilitate the development for the Board of Directors.
• Spearheading annual fundraising for programmatic costs.
• Submitting at least 2 large grant applications annually (>$75,000).
• Submitting at least 4 medium grant applications annually ($30,000–$75,000).
• Applying for at least 6 small grants annually (<$30,000).

2. Donor Relations & Engagement
• Steward relationships with donors, partners, and foundations.
• Draft impact reports and donor communications.
• Conducting at least 6 donor presentations to cultivate new supporters in the foundation
and private sectors.

3. Organizational Visibility & External Relations
• Represent SoL with funders and partners.
• Support development of regional fundraising partnerships.

4. Collaboration & Internal Systems
• Align fundraising with program and strategic goals.
• Support Board fundraising activities.
• Manage Deel HR Portal and Candid Account
• Managing engagement and reporting for existing donors.

5. Campaigns, Events & Community Engagement
• Lead fundraising events and campaigns.
• Develop sponsorship packages.
• Secure one new donor for SoL IWIC

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master's preferred.
• 5–10 years of nonprofit experience.
• Proven success securing grants and partnerships.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Experience with cloud-based platforms.
• Effective in remote work settings.
• Self-driven and goal oriented.
Availability
• Flexibility 9–5 EST virtual hours Mon - Thursday.
• Occasional evenings/weekends for events.
