Director of Real Estate
New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) – Paterson, New Jersey
NJCDC, a nonprofit community development and social service agency, is seeking a Director of Real Estate to lead the development, construction, and rehabilitation of affordable, special needs, and mixed-income housing, as well as mixed-use projects. The role also oversees the organization’s property management and facilities operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate development opportunities and potential sites.
- Lead all phases of real estate projects—from concept and feasibility through acquisition, financing, construction, and lease-up.
- Secure public and private financing, including tax credits and other subsidy programs.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, predevelopment, and land use approvals.
- Assemble and oversee project teams (architects, consultants, contractors) and manage day-to-day construction activities.
- Oversee marketing and lease-up of new projects and meet with stakeholders as needed.
- Direct all property management functions, including compliance with NJHMFA, tax credit syndicators, and other funders.
- Supervise the Facilities Department to ensure timely building operations and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; 5–7 years’ experience in real estate development, including full life-cycle project management.
- Experience with tax credits and other housing/economic development financing programs preferred.
- Strong skills in financial structuring, land use approvals, and contract negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Excellent analytical, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word; project planning software a plus.
- Commitment to NJCDC’s mission and ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $100,000–$125,000, depending on experience and potential, plus full benefits (medical, dental, paid vacation, etc.).
