Description
Café Momentum is a nonprofit restaurant and professional training facility in the heart of Atlanta, GA. The program offers a 12-month paid post-release internship for young men and women coming out of juvenile detention. These Interns rotate through all aspects of the restaurant while focusing on the development of social and life skills with a comprehensive case management team. Our team works to transform young lives by equipping our community’s most at-risk youth with life skills, education, and employment opportunities to help them reach their full potential.
The Director of Programs ensures the engagement of social services and community resources for interns in the Cafe Momentum program in an effort to acquire basic needs and stabilization. This person supervises the individualization of the ecosystem of support so that it fits the specific needs of each intern. This person supervises the program team, oversees the progress of interns through the objectives outlined in the Tiers of Success ensuring that resources are made available to interns and guidance on utilization of those resources is provided, ensures interns are receiving required job and life skills training and ensures all interns are enrolled in school, and/or a credit recovery, home school or a working GED program, have individualized education plans and are provided with the support and resources necessary to achieve their education potential. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Assesses program objectives and implements necessary revisions to ensure program growth and success
Supervises and manages the implementation, tracking, and progress reporting of interns through program objectives, and documents in a data tracking system
Supervises case managers, ensuring active engagement of the client case load
Works closely with the Restaurant General Manager to ensure consistent support and alignment with intern strategies and delivery
Manages overall process for post-program externship partners
Strengthens community partner relationships to promote external resources and internal program development, such as housing, food, and legal partners
Provides regular reporting to the Chief Program Officer
Contributes feedback in weekly intern updates/reviews and in 1:1 and team meetings
Supervises overall educational component of the program for all interns, including Cafe Momentum homeschool program, intern enrollment, and tracking
Manages the provision of mental health services to interns
Key Attributes
Master’s degree or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Behavioral Science, Criminology, Counseling, Law, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration, or in a job-related field of study with 5+ years of management experience in Social Work or related field
5+ years of management experience preferred
3+ years of nonprofit executive leadership preferred
LCSW preferred
This position requires working with interns/juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts; the applicant should possess a high tolerance for working in a possibly emotionally demanding/stressful work environment.
Working knowledge of the unique needs of the youth affected by the criminal justice system;
Experience working with youth and sensitivity to cultural backgrounds;
Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to exceed expectations is required to be successful in this position.
Must be a proactive self-starter and take initiative to identify and complete tasks to assist team members to work effectively and efficiently;
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
Ability to establish working relationships with community partners
Dependable transportation, current driver’s license, and auto liability insurance
Must complete background check screening
Microsoft Office proficient
Apricot Database experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Full-time approx. 40 hours weekly
- Some nights and weekends required
- Salary: $75,000-$85,000
