Director of Operations

The Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum (AEBM) is a non-profit organization focused on telling the narrative of Amelia Earhart and Atchison, KS. Located in Atchison, KS, the museum invites visitors to learn more about the famous aviatrix and the people and places that supported her.

The Museum is looking for a highly motivated Director of Operations. The Director of Operations reports to the Board of Trustees, oversees finances, actively engages the Board in fund raising efforts to increase museum resources, maintains records, greets visitors when available, gives guided tours, and oversees other staff and volunteers’ interactions with guests. The Director leads educational programming including online, field trips, adult tour groups, and events. In addition, he/she manages the AEBM Gift Shop, including purchasing inventory, tracking budget, creating promotional materials, keeping shelves stocked and organized, and curating new products. The Director oversees all staff working at the AEBM and manages and designs social media.  Specific qualifications include a bachelor's degree in museum studies, business, or a related field (master’s degree preferred) and 3-5 years of nonprofit managerial and supervisory experience. Annual salary $53,000.
