Description
SUMMARY
The Director of Information Technology provides strategic and operational leadership to the Foundation related to the organization’s IT security, tools, and environment. The Director will play a crucial role by ensuring that the technology infrastructure and strategy support the mission of the Foundation. The Director will collaborate with other leaders of the Foundation to maintain a deep understanding of each area’s needs, then identifies and implements technological solutions that drive the Foundation’s work forward in an effective and innovative manner. The Director will oversee third-party IT providers and lead internal staff that provide friendly and responsive IT service to staff and Foundation partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement the strategic direction for the Foundation’s IT infrastructure in alignment with the Foundation’s goals, needs, and resources.
- Lead significant technology changes, communicate impact to staff, secure staff buy-in, and oversee rollout and staff training.
- Consult stakeholders across the Foundation to identify technology needs and optimize use of information technology while balancing security, efficiency and user-friendliness.
- Engage with industry peers and membership organizations to bring best practices and learnings to the Foundation’s work.
- Manage a technology budget and asset inventory that reflects the Foundation’s strategic IT needs and innovation.
- Manage IT staff and third-party provider for user support issues to ensure staff efficiency and work continuity, as well as being hands-on in a small environment.
- Continuously evaluate existing technology systems against evolving business needs and monitor the market for potential product purchases, replacements or upgrades.
- Lead efforts to create and maintain IT policies, security controls and procedures to protect Foundation assets and operations.
- Oversee third-party cyber security partner and address growing threats to the Foundation. Oversee periodic IT audits, testing and assessment of systems related to cyber security.
- Develop and implement staff training as needed for new technology and software to maintain effective use of all technology platforms.
- Maintain business continuity protocols and system recovery plans to minimize disruption to business operations in emergencies or data loss events.
- Partner with Data Systems Manager to develop strategies for data integrity and reporting for informed decision making.
- Ensure that technology vendors are assessed for performance, held accountable, including managing routine RFP and vendor selection processes when appropriate.
- Manage network infrastructure so it is secure, reliable, efficient, up to date and proactively maintain equipment and applications to correct deficiencies
- Implement plans to maintain staff working effectively and high performing with the technology tools of the Foundation
- Develop and maintain a strategic IT plan complete with best practices, by collaborating with partner IT firm and Foundation leadership
- Analyze performance of business applications, establish and maintain effective solutions for all areas of IT.
- Plan and oversee technology projects, ensuring they are competed on time and within budget, including coordination with internal teams and external vendors.
- Routinely gather organizational feedback to ensure then Foundation’s technology environment is meeting team needs.
- Along with direct report, manage the convening and meeting space technology for consistent, reliable usage, including training of appropriate staff.
- Other related and relevant duties as assigned by the Chief Finance and Administration Officer.
Other Duties:
- Participates in team activities and completes diverse assignments in support of team goals
- Performs general Foundation support activities and carries out special projects as required
- Adheres to the Foundation’s core and staff values
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in IT Management, preferably in a non-profit, philanthropic or mission driven organization
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing IT teams and projects
- In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cyber security, data security and cloud computing
- Experience developing and implementing IT Strategies and policies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups.
- Understanding and adherence to high standards of ethics and confidentiality.
- Experience preferred with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Zoom phones, Zoom meeting rooms, PowerBI, project management software.

For this role, limited bending, reaching, crawling, and lifting may be needed on occasion relating to the technology infrastructure or support to staff.
Starting Salary:
$135,795 - $159,453
