Karina Association Inc. https://www.karina-association.net/  is a Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011, dedicated to supporting adults (21+) with developmental disabilities through Community Development Services, Employment Services, Respite, Family Support, and Meaningful Day programming. Our mission is rooted in dignity, inclusion, and person-centered care.

Board Opportunity

We are seeking mission-driven, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors. Board members play a vital role in guiding the organization’s strategic direction, ensuring financial and regulatory oversight, and strengthening community connections.

We especially welcome:

  • Family members of individuals with disabilities

  • Professionals with expertise in finance, accounting, legal, HR, healthcare, education, nonprofit management, fundraising, or community leadership

  • Individuals connected to faith-based or community organizations

  • Emerging leaders interested in nonprofit governance

Responsibilities

Board members are expected to:

  • Provide governance and fiduciary oversight

  • Review and approve budgets, financial reports, and audits

  • Support strategic planning and organizational growth

  • Uphold the mission, bylaws, and ethical standards of the organization

  • Participate in board meetings and occasional committees

  • Act as ambassadors for Karina Association in the community

Board of Directors Position Description:
Members of the Board of Directors at Karina Association Inc. serve as volunteer leaders who provide governance, fiduciary oversight, and strategic guidance to support the organization’s mission of empowering adults with developmental disabilities. Board members commit to attending quarterly meetings, reviewing financial and programmatic materials, participating in decision-making, and serving as ambassadors in the community. Ideal candidates bring a passion for inclusion, a willingness to contribute time and expertise, and a commitment to ethical leadership and collaborative service.
