Description

Haven Youth and Family Services has been serving youth and their families since 1976. What began as an outreach program for youth and has continued to grow and develop to include programs such as crisis response and prevention, individual, group, and family counseling, emergency housing services, 24-hour crisis intervention, daily outreach to area schools, psycho-educational workshops, youth leadership positions, and service-learning opportunities.

In addition to supporting the mission and values of Haven, the primary responsibilities of the Drop-in Center Program Manager are:

Direct Service:

  • Facilitate and/or oversee structured and unstructured activities for youth ages 11-18
  • Develop and implement outreach programming to build community awareness of the drop-in center and encourage participation
  • Supervise intern facilitation of outreach and drop-in programs
  • Develop and sustain relationships with participants, families, and community organizations (including schools)
  • Maintain and consistently review quality and timely documentation for services provided using electronic file management software
  • Coverage of Haven’s CCBYS housing program on regular rotation one weekday night each week and one weekend per month

Outreach:

  • Create original content for psycho-educational programs/workshops
  • Create resources for parents and community members to support the mental health of youth, parents, and families
  • Represent Haven at community events
  • Support the maintenance of positive relationships with local public and private schools, local social service agencies, local religious organizations, and local law enforcement agencies
  • Attend and participate in weekly group and individual supervision sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Fundraising/Development:

  • Assist with the responsibilities of running a small non-profit: some assistance with fundraising, general mission awareness-raising in the community, and assisting directors in maintaining collaborative partnerships with outside agencies and schools

The requirements for the Drop-in Center Program Manager  are:

  • Degree or commensurate experience in counseling, social work, recreation therapy 
  • Access to reliable transportation, driver’s license and clean driving record
  • A minimum of 5 years experience with recreational programming, therapeutic interventions, and program facilitation
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families
  • Comfort collaborating and communicating with parents
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to take initiative
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a small non-profit team
  • Available to work evenings and Saturdays
  • Dual language proficiency is a plus
