On behalf of our client, the Heart of America Foundation, CohenTaylor Executive Search Services is conducting a retained executive search for its Vice President of External Affairs & Development.

Over the past 23 years, Heart of America has provided high-quality education resources and transformed spaces in under-resourced schools into modern learning environments so that students and communities can learn and grow. It has served more than two million students in need by distributing more than 4 million books, infusing $4.5 million in technology, and transforming more than 500 school and community libraries, cafeterias, gymnasiums, college and career centers, tech labs, and many more educational spaces across North America.

Heart of America is seeking its first Vice President of External Affairs & Development. This VP will lead the overall strategic direction and implementation of HOA’s externally facing initiatives, spearhead strategies to increase support for and raise visibility of the mission and programs, and promote an institution-wide culture of philanthropy.

The ideal candidate will be an innovative, energetic, and intellectually curious leader with a depth of experience building and running an effective development department. The successful candidate will have a measurable track record defining and building strategic relationships, influencing ideas, guiding marketing and communication initiatives, and building brands.
