Position Summary:

The FLA is looking for a dynamic professional to serve as our primary liaison to the approximately 150 university members of the organization. The University Program Manager will work closely with the six university members of the FLA Board of Directors who represent university interests. In parallel, s/he will engage with collegiate licensees (companies that hold trademark licenses with universities to manufacture products bearing collegiate logos) to meet FLA requirements and, in turn, keep universities informed about licensee efforts. The University Program Manager will also be responsible for managing the FLA’s Student Committee.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC and reports to the Senior Director, Affiliation and Capacity Building.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Serve as the primary FLA contact for university members.
  • Facilitate development of the Student Committee of the university caucus.
  • Manage annual university meeting and other university-related events.
  • Respond to university inquiries on the compliance status of their licensees.
  • Assist in facilitating regular meetings of the university members of the FLA Board of Directors.
  • Support implementation of working groups convened to address collegiate priorities.
  • Engage with collegiate licensing agencies (companies that support their university clients to manage trademark licensing) on an ongoing basis.
  • Facilitate engagement with academics working at the intersection of business and human rights.
  • Monitor campus coverage of FLA and related organizations and issues.
  • Working with other team members, engage licensees on FLA’s requirements, which includes supporting development and delivery of knowledge-building webinars and training sessions for university and licensee affiliates on FLA’s work and current labor issues of interest.
  • Support the development and implementation of FLA’s learning management system.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required; Graduate degree preferred.
  • At least five years of professional experience in labor relations, corporate social responsibility, or other relevant fields; previous work in a university setting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of international labor standards and labor issues companies face in enforcing labor standards in supplier facilities around the world.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in and commitment to FLA’s mission.
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills, with attention to detail and an ability to establish systems to manage constant flows of information, and deliver on deadlines.
  • Tech and social media savvy.
  • Familiarity with email distribution platforms such as Mailchimp.
