The Therapist (QSAP I) will provide treatment services, including substance abuse treatment, to clients and their families, consistent with the training, experience, and scope of practice established by their respective discipline and Alabama law.

Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions

Clinical                                                                                              

  • Conduct diagnostic interview examination
  • Develop and implement service planning
  • Provide recovery support services
  • Identify and conduct appropriate referrals
  • Provide client, family and community education
  • Provide clinical services in individual, group, and family therapy mode, utilizing techniques and theories especially suited for individuals in the treatment population
  • Perform thorough psychosocial and placement assessments to reflect accurate diagnosis or diagnostic impression.
  • Consult with other staff regarding appropriate mode of treatment and interventions with clients
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with treatment community, probation department, court referral and other necessary and authorized agencies
  • Assist in provision of treatment services that meet center operational and service level requirements
  • Provide case management services during program participation and for the coordination of continuing care
  • Fulfill periodic on-call obligations, ensuring availability during on-call service and timely, appropriate response
  • Ensure content of client file in full compliance with The Bridge Policies and Procedures, Medicaid, and contracting agency standards and regulations regarding client file data entry, quality of file content, timeliness of entries, timeliness of file updates and archiving, and timely, accurate, and pertinent documentation and corresponding billing records
  • Complete all required documentation in the electronic health record
  • Assist with general clerical duties
  • Meet relevant performance and operating State, Federal, Medicaid, and Bridge standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master’s degree in a clinical area (i.e., psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family) OR other behavioral health area with requisite coursework equivalent to that of a degree in above with practicum/internship from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education OR have six (6) month’s post master’s clinical experience
  • Must be SA certified according to The Bridge policy and ADMH standards within 30 months from date of hire or transfer from a non-ADMH position; OR licensure as a professional counselor (LPC, LMFT, LICSW or LMSW)
  • Secure CPR and First Aide certification within thirty (30) days of the date of hire and maintain
  • Obtain the case management certification through the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) prior to completion of the probationary period, and prior to billing case management services
  • High level of integrity, dependability, and honesty
  • Ability to express ideas and directives clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingValid Alabama driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office software and proficient keyboarding skills
  • Cultural sensitivity in working with internal and external consumers including clients, staff, volunteers, referral agents, vendors, community organizations, etc.
  • Effective stress management/composure
