QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience teaching or working with the public in a classroom, informal educational/public setting preferred.
  • High school graduate
  • College courses in science and/ or education preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent customer service skills and team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish, Korean, or Chinese desired.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may includes weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and organize supplies that may weigh up to 25 lbs.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of educational summer camp programs to groups of preschool, elementary and secondary aged children.
  • Assist in the development of hands-on science lessons for camp programs.
  • Organize and prepare materials for use in camp programs.
  • Purchase and sort consumable and non-consumable supplies for camp programs.
  • Assist in organizing and supervising on and off site program field trips.
  • Assist the Extended Day Lead with organizing and supervising extended day programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining classroom space and supplies.
  • Assist in daily administrative and operational tasks.
  • Track camp attendance and surveys.
  • Perform other duties as required.
