The SF-Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 220 staff working collaboratively to provide close to 50 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 5 people are at risk of hunger. We are currently looking for a Supplemental Food Program (SFP) Delivery Coordinator to help coordinate the full spectrum of day-to-day operations of our delivery service. POSITION PURPOSE

The SF- Marin Food Bank’s (SFMFB) mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin. The Supplemental Food Program (SFP) is a federal program that provides a monthly box of nutritious USDA food to low-income seniors. In response to the COVID- 19 pandemic, a temporary pilot delivery service was created for seniors who could not physically attend a site to pick up their food box. The SFP Delivery Coordinator will continue to support this program and help arrange for a more efficient way for food boxes to be delivered to qualified seniors while complying to federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Delivery Program Support and Development

  • Take over all duties of the current pilot delivery program process.
  • Work with the Program Manager to efficiently deliver food boxes to seniors.
  • Communicate program enrollment information to participants by explaining our process and guidelines.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and other inquiries regarding SFP and its delivery program.
  • Work with our operations and inventory department to ensure the proper number of boxes to be delivered and returned is accurate.
  • Evaluate program processes for improvements, propose solutions, solicit feedback, execute plans to create a better system.

Delivery Program Outreach

  • With the support of the Program Manager and others, examine the demographics of SFP participants, both delivery and pickup, and propose outreach solutions for a more equitable and increased distribution of SFP resources across all communities, solicit feedback, assist in execution.
  • Under the direction of the Program Manager, examine existing Food Bank partnerships for potential collaboration as an SFP distribution partner, propose solutions, investigate possibilities, collaborate, and establish new and creative partnerships.
  • As established by Food Bank goals and under the direction of the Program Manager, establish partnerships with community and faith-based organizations to provide locations and/or resources for SFP distributions.

Delivery Program Operations

Physical Distribution

  • Physically be on site on delivery days to supervise drivers to ensure correct number of boxes received
  • Ensure social distancing and other public health best practices among staff and participants to minimize the spread of contagions.
  • Create a welcoming and respectful atmosphere at the delivery distributions.
  • Support drivers to provide a friendly and positive experience for everyone.
  • Serve as backup to delivery service staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Delivery System Information Management

  • Ensure consistent and accurate communication of delivery information across multiple software platforms.
  • Assist in the upkeep of program data in systems such as Ceres, Oasis Insight and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ensure data is communicated with timeliness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Enter in accurate monthly records into our database and ensure participant’s annual recertifications are up to date.
  • Other special projects as assigned.

Program Department Support

  • Serve as back-up support at SFP distribution sites to help with intake or distribution of food boxes to seniors and other duties as needed on site.
  • Provide SFP administrative support.
  • Provide additional administrative support to programs department when available.
  • Other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and experience in social service work required
  • Candidates should have experience working with community-based organizations and low-income communities in either San Francisco or Marin

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Calm demeanor in stressful environment.
  • Ability to work and interact well with individuals (staff, volunteers, and participants) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.) including advanced Excel and Word formatting skills and experience working with databases and data on multiple programs.
  • An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to listen, identify, analyze, and guide lay users through system and procedural problems.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team; to communicate regularly; and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in hunger or food issues.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.

Environment: This position is partially remote and requires reliable internet access as well as access to a computer. In-person work will be required 1-2 weeks a month.  Technical tools will be furnished.

Finger Dexterity: Requires typing on standard computer

Talking: Ability to speak on phone, face to face, and in front of groups

Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information

Repetitive Motions: Frequent and regular movements using the wrists, hands, and fingers

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents

Physical Strength: Ability to lift 30-35 pounds

COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of complex intellectual and practical problems

Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform advanced math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs

Language Ability: Fluency in English. Good writing skills. Cantonese or Spanish speaking is a plus.

Salary: Grade 4 $52,349.75 to $69,800.01
