Description

Summary: The Senior Digital Strategist will plan and execute social media and digital strategies across PFLAG National social media channels, the PFLAG National website, and additional digital communications vehicles, including email and newsletters. Focusing on messaging, brand consistency, metrics, and analytics, they will work to expand awareness of PFLAG National and its programs, increase national membership, advance PFLAG’s mission, and grow PFLAG’s online community. The person in this role will work across departments—developing creative and engaging content and ensuring consistency of messaging and visuals—in service of visibility, fundraising, member/chapter engagement, and legislative advocacy goals, and will supervise the Online Community Senior Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Social Media

  • Oversee PFLAG National social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok;
  • Stay current with changes on all social platforms to ensure maximum effectiveness;
  • Stay engaged with current events to ensure channels remain current, relevant, helpful, and engaging; 
  • Leverage paid digital and social content to build organic social content and engagement; and
  • Create social media and other toolkits for use by the PFLAG Chapter Network, community partners, and influencers

Digital Strategy

  • Create digital communications campaign strategies both internal and with external partners, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders;
  • Develop digital content (text/graphics/video) to support fundraising efforts, legislative advocacy, and other programs of PFLAG National;
  • Analyze and report out on metrics to determine the efficacy/efficiency of campaigns and website usage to help direct changes, and report out on goal-oriented next steps;
  • Research audience preferences and discover trends amongst different demographics to retain current audiences and expand to new ones; and
  • Ensure that the PFLAG National and Straight for Equality websites are engaging, up to date, and must-visit destinations for members, supporters, media, and donors who come to us via social media and other communications conduits;
  • Create strategy for cross-departmental integrated digital marketing efforts, working with all levels of staff on all teams to ensure goals are being met; and
  • Serve as key point of contact for email marketing strategy, creation, and execution, working with all levels of staff to ensure goals are being met.

Online Community

  • Supervise Online Community Senior Coordinator, whose primary tasks are:
    • Creating and moderating PFLAG National online communities (including Facebook groups) to build a strong online community presence; 
    • Engaging in online conversations with users and responses to direct messages across all platform; and
    • Promoting online communities to grow PFLAG’s presence.

Additional

  • Provide graphic design support across the organization, including social media and digital content; and 
  • Create and manage social media/digital content calendar to ensure messaging consistency aligned with overall communications strategy and optimal posting schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five-to-eight years experience managing and implementing successful social media presence and digital strategy;
  • Ability to work independently and still be a collaborative team player, comfortable with a fast-paced work environment;
  • Experience supervising staff;
  • Strong ability to work with remote employees; team members are remotely-based;
  • Experience creating and executing a social media schedule, aligned to overall communications strategies and overall organizational goals and objectives;
  • Experience crafting and managing social postings across multiple platforms;
  • Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Illustrator; Canva; Google Analytics; Sprout Social, including listening tools; Later, or other social media management platforms; 
  • Experience reporting out metrics, and developing goals and changes based on the analysis;
  • Salsa Engage and Salesforce, or a willingness to learn and put to use their full functionality; 
  • Content creation of images, video, and written content;
  • Experience with online marketing strategies and marketing channels;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent project-management skills;
  • Excellent critical thinking skills;
  • Knowledge of and passion for LGBTQ+ issues and civil rights as a whole; and 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Working knowledge of HTML and WordPress;
  • Working knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Ads;
  • Working knowledge of Twitch and other streaming platforms, including monetization opportunities; 
  • Working knowledge of video editing software including Adobe Premiere or similar;
  • Fluency in languages in addition to English is a plus.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range is $80,000-$95,000 commensurate with experience. PFLAG offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid medical, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, 403(b) with employer match and generous vacation.
