Job Summary

Collaborate on the implementation of annual and long-term plans for the recruitment, admission and enrollment of students into the School for Social Work (SSW) MSW and PhD programs with a particular focus on outreach and communications, coordinating with the Associate Dean and Senior Associate Director on the implementation of those plans. Register for, attend, and or organize in-person and virtual events and perform related public relations and marketing functions, including targeted outreach to prospective students primarily using the Slate CRM. Act as Admission Counselor to a subset of admission applicants. Manage collaborative relationships focused on recruitment and relationship building with alumnx and student volunteers, including Admission Ambassadors. Collaborate with Slate Captain around Slate use, training/skills, and introducing new modules into your work. Collaborate with the Communications Office and Senior Associate Director to develop an annual plan for outreach. Occasional travel and weekend work is required.

Essential Functions

25%

Work with the Associate Dean and Senior Associate Director to develop and implement an annual outreach and communication plan, including scheduled email messaging to engage prospective students, a calendar of live and virtual events, event-related communications, and details of SSW representation at scheduled events. This may include targeted outreach and event management in Slate, as well as sending printed materials, coordinating staffing, and other details.

Coordinate logistics for recruitment events (fairs, conferences, virtual events, recruitment events) including registration, campus space reservation, advertisement, arranging representation, payment, material preparation, post-event follow up, and summary reporting. This position will list and format recruitment events and planned travel in Slate, and develop and maintain protocols and procedures for this purpose. The Assistant Director will represent SSW at events on the road; some travel (2-3 weeks annually) and occasional weekend work is required.

Support and steward admission applications during application season and maintain ongoing communication as needed. Manage deferral program with oversight from the Senior Associate Director.

Develop expertise and utilize Slate to implement an annual communication plan, including outreach to prospective students in recruitment areas, event announcements, event registration, reminders, etc. Coordinate email and text outreach. Coordinate importing outside organization data into Slate for use in outreach.

Other Functions

Maintain inventory of printed materials and coordinate timeline for writing and publishing new materials in support of admission efforts, with regular coordination with the Communications Office about ongoing collaborations. Provide ongoing stewardship for prospective students and applicants through correspondence and leading campus tours (shared). Oversee prospect data entry and communication. Support admission website changes. Maintain knowledge of pertinent developments at the SSW and in the field of social work and graduate admission work. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of three years of experience in admission or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Must be detail oriented, a strong writer, and be able to articulate the value of graduate education. Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills, with enthusiasm about graduate admission work, willingness to learn about the profession of social work, and a strong professional and personal alignment with SSW’s Five Core Principles. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills and an ability to problem solve.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Skills

Experience in Slate and Drupal a plus.
