RESEARCH AND EDUCATION SERVICES MANAGER

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Research and Education Services Manager is responsible for management of the Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) Coalition’s research and medical education activities, resources, and strategic initiatives. The person will play a key role in advancing multiple system atrophy research at a global scale while providing the patient and care partner community with meaningful insight into work that is aimed at alleviating symptoms, slowing disease progression, and finding a cure.

Primary Responsibilities

 MSA Coalition Research

  • Project manager for the MSA Coalition Seed Grant program.
  • Management and coordination of the MSA Coalition 4 Collaborate Cores Research Program.
  • Works closely with the Director of Research to support and advance the MSA Coalition Research Agenda and deliverables.
  • Staff liaison for research grant task forces to review and award various MSA Coalition funded research grants.
  • Serves as the primary staff contact for all MSA grant inquires.

 Medical and Healthcare Professional Education

  • Project owner for the MSA Research Congress and staff liaison to the Program Planning Committee.
  • Staff lead for all MSA Coalition medical and healthcare professional programming, resources, and volunteer engagement.
  • Provides oversight and management for all medical and healthcare professional continuing education approved activities.
  • Serves as staff liaison for medical and healthcare professional education related task forces and/or workgroups.
  • Engages with external like-minded healthcare organizations and/or conferences to enhance multiple system atrophy research.
  • Collaborate with staff for obtaining educational sponsorships and grant funding to ensure compliance with accrediting body and other guidelines as applicable.

Medical and Research Education for Patients and Care Partners

  • Leads the project management and process implementation for the MSA Coalition Centers of Excellence program.
  • Serves as primary contact for the MSA Coalition Centers of Excellence program for applicants, designated institutions, and the larger multiple system atrophy community.
  • Provides timely status updates on ongoing MSA clinical trials and treatment pipelines, both internally and externally.
  • Integrates research and the patient and care partner communities to ensure both populations are collaborative and connected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Three (3) years or more of nonprofit and/or association work experience, preferably with a healthcare or cause-based connection.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience working with CME, CNE, or other accredited healthcare continuing education is highly desired.
  • Highly organized with an ability manage multiple projects with differing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication (written & oral) skills.
  • Previous experience working with professional development activities and abstract management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to establish, nurture relationships, and an enthusiasm for meeting and working with a wide range of individuals.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong proclivity to finding innovative solutions that address standing challenges.
  • Technical proficiency with databases (such as SalesForce), presentation technology, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and general computing skills.

 Travel

  • Ability to travel 1 – 4 times per year
