Description

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Consultant (self-employed) Child Psychologist to join our foster care residential care services team. You may work with children suffering from a wide range of disorders, e.g. ADHD, anxiety, depression, and autism, to children seeking to overcome substance abuse, or who are in post-trauma recovery.

The successful candidate must have the knowledge and skills to provide quality psychology mental health counseling and testing services to our clients and their families. The psychologist will need to be well-versed in the most recent research on child, adolescent and family therapies.

KEY DUTIES:

  • Conduct psychological assessments and/or tests to residents for diagnostic purposes.
  • Provide complete/timely documentation and records of assessments and treatments according to in-house policies.
  • Aid in developing an individualized treatment plan for each child.
  • Educate staff and family members on what they can do or how to respond to certain child behaviors.
  • Provide education to residents regarding mental health issues, therapies, their conditions, self-care techniques and prevention.
  • Provide mental health counseling as needed to residents and families
  • Recommend rehabilitation or intervention programs to overcome addiction issues in addition to recommendations for most appropriate level of care for residents.
  • Participate as part of a team in child team conference, psychotropic medication meetings, red flag meetings in the provision of significant input concerning residents’ overall functioning as well as communicate their needs.
  • Respond to mental health crisis situations involving residents and aid with supportive guidance to staff on crisis resolution
  • Provide supervision and oversight for college psychology degree student interns

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Physical Doctorate Degree of Psychology from an accredited school.
  • Licensed /Registration for the State of New York.
  • At least one year of certified Psychologist practice.
  • Must have experience in trauma informed care practices.
