TITLE: Program Psychiatrist (Part Time –Per Diem)

SALARY: DOE/DOQ plus excellent benefits

Mon-Friday 9am-5pm

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, the psychiatrist has full responsibility in managing the medication support services for all clients under the care and supervision of the program. The Psychiatrist in coordination with the Program Director and the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the Evaluation and Assessment of all clients of the program. The psychiatrist is responsible for carrying out all policies related to medication in accordance with the City and County of San Francisco, the Medication Policy of Progress Foundation, and generally accepted medical practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide psychiatric assessment and evaluation to all the clients who come in to the program. Providing on-going treatment and medication assessment to the current clients of the program. This will include writing medication prescriptions and refills for the clients. Provide regular consultation to the Program Leadership and staff regarding individual client functioning and treatment including participation in the clinical discussions of clients during staff meetings. Document in a legible, accurate, and timely manner medication support activities according to the regulations of Department Mental Health, Community Care Licensing, Medi-Cal and HIPAA.

Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations, as well as all agency policies and procedures, including the Progress Foundation Code of Ethics and the Ethics Code of your licensure. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services, including but not limited to meeting attendance, preparation of reports, and completion of special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold and maintain a Medical License.
  • Must hold and maintain DEA license.
  • Board certified or Board eligible.
  • Specific experience or demonstrated interest in alternative community mental health settings is preferred and familiarity with principles of social rehabilitation. Experience may be substituted for degree requirements, depending on nature and length of experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Medi-Cal and HIPAA related documentation.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and other providers both orally and in writing.
  • Must demonstrate an acceptable level of maturity, good judgment, and emotional stability.
  • Must be able to negotiate several flights of stairs during each work shift.
  • Must demonstrate ongoing clearance with the California State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, allowing direct contact with program clients.
  • Must maintain a valid California drivers license, and must be insurable under the agency's current auto insurance policies.Progress Foundation is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse workforce.
