The In-N-Out Burger Community Engagement Team has an excellent opportunity for a Program Officer in the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation, out of our Irvine, CA* office. This position will report to the Executive Director for the S2N Foundation and will support In-N-Out Burger’s Slave 2 Nothing Foundation.  The Program Officer (Substance Abuse Prevention and Recovery) is responsible for assisting with the foundation’s grants program, with a focus on supporting those nonprofit groups who provide assistance for substance abuse prevention and recovery.  This person will be a team member of the Community Engagement Department, which includes the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, Slave 2 Nothing Foundation, Fundraising and Volunteer teams.
The Slave 2 Nothing Foundation was established to educate and support non-profits working to eliminate human trafficking, as well as focus on those fighting substance abuse.
*This position is full-time, in-office only - Irvine, CA
General Responsibilities
  • Have strong knowledge and interest in working in the substance abuse field; Desire to support nonprofit groups who provide assistance for substance abuse prevention and recovery
  • Responsible for all grant-related efforts, including advising organizations about the foundation and grants program and processes
  • Review grant applications, compiling and organizing data for grant review and approval
  • Research possible organizations for missional alliance with Slave 2 Nothing
  • Have experience with Social Models of Recovery, such as 12-step models, Alcoholics Anonymous, Celebrate Recovery, etc.
  • Assess grant applications by thoroughly reading all applications, fully contribute to panel discussions, produce substantive evaluations
  • Schedule and conduct site visits for existing and potential grant recipients in communities In-N-Out operates in to assess and conduct a qualitative review of the organization, their focus, operations
  • Complete a summary of the visit and any necessary follow-up action; requires travel and working flexible hours
  • Travel to nonprofit sites and organizations we work with, to include out of state travel
  • Advise organizations about the foundation, grants program, requirements and processes
  • Review grant applications for completeness and compliance with the foundation’s standards and take care of any necessary follow up with organizations
  • Review, compile and organize data for Board of Directors review and grant approvals
  • Provide recommendations for grant approval and collaborate with team in final recommendations to the Board of Directors
  • Complete any related administrative duties required in organizing and maintaining files and data related to organizations, grants, funding, site visits, etc.
  • Support fundraising events; Occasionally attend site visits and fundraising events
  • Assist with Community Engagement events as needed and assigned
Work Schedule + Benefits
  • Full-time, Hourly Non-Exempt
  • Office Hours in Irvine, CA: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
  • Department needs will call for occasional evenings and weekends
  • Travel time: It is anticipated that 20-25% of the work time will be spent in the field; out of state travel required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Addictions and Mental Health Treatment, Addiction Studies, Addiction Counseling, Psychology, Nonprofit or Social Welfare preferred
  • Certifications preferred, such as: Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC), Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California (ACCBC), California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE), or California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP)
  • 1-3 years experience with Social Models of Recovery, such as 12-step models, Alcoholics Anonymous, Celebrate Recovery, etc.
  • 1-3 years experience working in non-profit or community-based enrichment organizations
  • 1-3 years experience in the grant reading and review process
  • Experience in working with Substance Abuse recovery
  • Direct service experience as it relates to Substance Abuse recovery
  • Strong desire to serve the Substance Abuse community
  • Ability to meticulously read each grant proposal, have discussions, and make recommendations to the Community Engagement team
  • Ability to travel regularly and drive a company vehicle; out of state travel also required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; communication with all levels of management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience in Blackbaud Grantmaking preferred
  • Proven passion for giving back to community

Our Fundraising Team supports both foundations with small and large scaled fundraising efforts as well as collaborating with Community Impact on volunteer opportunities for our In-N-Out Burger Associates and their families.
