About Vision To Learn

Vision To Learn is a non-profit organization that provides free eye exams and free glasses to students in low-income communities to give them every chance to succeed in school and in life. The program was founded in Los Angeles in 2012 and has since expanded to schools throughout areas of California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, and New Jersey.

Since our inception, Vision To Learn has made over 3,800 school visits, examined nearly 90,000 students and provided almost 70,000 children with free glasses. Vision To Learn partners with school districts to provide eye exams to children in low-income communities with unmet needs for glasses. Our mobile eye clinics arrive at the school on a pre-scheduled date. We see an average of 28 students daily on our mobile clinic.

Position Description

The Program Manager is responsible for supporting Vision To Learn in planning, executing, and implementing day- to- day service delivery including all mobile clinic operations in California, mobile clinic expansion and overseeing timely dispensing. This position requires some late hours to cover evening and weekend events. The Program Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for on site school nurses, health aides and outside event coordinators.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Service Delivery Development In conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer, the Program Manager will: • Oversee assigned daily operations for mobile clinic service provision, multi-weekly vision screenings, weekly dispensing operations • Opens and closes the office• Coordinate the activities of assigned volunteers and interns at weekend and evening events • Facilitate all processes that ensure efficient daily service delivery across the country • Ensure that calendars are planned out 3-4 months in advance • Assist in the implementation of Medi-Cal and Medicaid rollout • Support the Chief Operating Officer to meet internal data targets • All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program development • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with a diverse group of youth ages 2-18 •


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to monitor, analyze, consult, and report on operations and services. • Advanced organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks • Working knowledge of program development. • Strong interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment • Ability to work with culturally diverse staff and populations and a variety of education stakeholders and audiences. • Excellent command of English language and grammar, both verbal and written • Proficient with computer applications—a thorough understanding of the Microsoft Office, Excel and the ability to learn and master other computer technology/software programs as needed. Good command of Internet usage • Excellent follow through and persistence when corresponding with nurses, parents, and volunteers • Committed to young people, their families, and the mission of Vision To Learn•


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Maintain satisfactory, regular and predictable attendance by reporting to work as scheduled and keeping unscheduled absences to a minimum. • Ability to troubleshoot • Proficient Spanish skills preferred.
