APA Family Support Services (APA) is a community-based organization that focuses on the prevention and identification of child abuse/neglect in the San Francisco community. Our mission is to promote healthy children and families by providing family support services to prevent child abuse and domestic violence and to advocate for culturally competent services through education, community building, and leadership development. APA is San Francisco’s foremost advocate and service provider for immigrant, monolingual, and at-risk children and their families. Our services range from prevention to crisis intervention to community development.

We currently have an opening for a Program Manager at Visitacion Valley Strong Families. The Visitacion Valley Strong Families (VVSF) family resource center’s mission is to engage, strengthen, and empower Visitacion Valley (VV) families while encouraging and supporting them to become advocates for themselves and be active in the community. VVSF strives to achieve and engage families who are at risk of child abuse, truancy, neglect, mental health problems, and domestic violence.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage coordinated formal support Child Welfare Services, Differential Response, and Enhanced Visitation referrals and program activities; And
  • Manage FRC’s family engagement, community connections, and parents/caregivers capacity building services and program activities
  • Supervise a team of staff, volunteers, and subcontractors’ deliverables and required meetings/training
  • Manage and coordinate the intake, triage, and assessment process
  • Supervises outreach and recruitment activities to the targeted population to effectively promote program services
  • Manage food pantry distribution, diaper bank distribution, and basic needs supply distribution
  • Facilitate and conduct groups as needed
  • Manage cross-program child-centered activities and events that are designed to increase parent knowledge, skills, and effectiveness
  • Liaise with CPS workers, participate in CFT/TDM meetings, and follow up with linkage to services offered
  • Coordinate crisis intervention, case management, and visitation monitoring for foster children to ensure their safety and help biological parents with enhancing their parenting skills
  • Provide bilingual, culturally competent direct support services to clients in need and make home visits as necessary
  • Coordinate an emergency fund for eligible families
  • Prepare and monitor program budget, expenses, and invoices
  • Coordinate team discussions, unit meetings, staff meetings, case conferences, and in-service training programs
  • Supervise and monitor staff development and schedule training to ensure program activities are implemented according to contract agreements, APA policies, and reporting requirements
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with community service providers, funders, and other agencies/programs to educate and advocate for the needs of families and communities
  • Participate in multidisciplinary providers and community meetings
  • Provide and assess data, documents, and reports as required
  • Maintain client records and perform family assessment evaluation to update client progress.
  • Participate in program administration, planning, and evaluation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification:

  • BA/BS in Social Work or related field required. Or a combination of coursework and/or experience in the area of children and family services, communication skills, group dynamics, and community organizing
  • 3 years of experience in the field of family support and community service. Minimum 1 year of experience in supervision, project management, and development required
  • Proven ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual/gender orientations and generational backgrounds
  • Familiarity and experience working with community-based organizations and city government agencies
  • Excellent supervisory skills; excellent organizational and task management skills; conflict resolution skills
  • Valid California Driver’s License and proof of vehicle insurance
  • Must pass a background check and TB test

Salary:$73,000 - $83,000; Fulltime, 40hrs/wk
