POSITION SUMMARY:

America’s Essential Hospitals seeks a passionate and dedicated Policy Associate to join our innovative Policy team. The ideal Policy Associate has junior level policy experience in a non-profit or association environment.  The Policy Associate contributes to America’s Essential Hospitals’ regulatory advocacy efforts by coordinating policy team activities, implementing engagement initiatives, and educating member hospitals. The Policy Associate is organized, creative and flexible, with the ability to move between projects as needed.

The Policy Associate enjoys the ability to work remotely up to 4 days per week, coming to the office on Tuesdays and occasionally as needed for meetings, events, or projects.

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Policy

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*:

  • Monitor and advise on relevant federal regulatory and state-level policy developments
  • Engage in member education efforts, including member correspondence and drafting web content
  • Participate in advocacy engagement, produce materials, such as issue briefs, formal letters, and presentations
  • Research policy issues and support the Policy team with quantitative analysis

 

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED for the POLICY ASSOCIATE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of regulatory policy experience
  • Basic understanding of federal advocacy and US health care policy; exposure to state policy a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
  • Project management and quantitative analysis experience

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects, prioritize assignments, meet tight deadlines, and regularly report on status.

  • Ability to synthesize complex materials
  • Good judgment and accountability
  • Respectful, service-oriented attitude toward coworkers and customers
  • Desire to learn and develop professionally.
  • Ability to commute to the association’s Washington, D.C. office.
