Remote - position starting ASAP

The Partnership on AI (PAI) is seeking a consultant (individual/firm) to support the management of corporate partnerships development and the design of a partnership operations management framework. The consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing two new fundraising initiatives with corporate partners, targeting engagement with the startup community, and bolstering programmatic engagement with PAI pilot activities.

The successful candidate or contractor will report to Caitlin Dally, Head of Philanthropic Partnerships. This role will support the executive team and the CEO, as they spearhead proactive outreach to major corporate and grantmaking foundations to foster new, long-term relationships and help drive revenue for the development team. This is a remote, contract position beginning in August 2022, or as soon as a consultant is retained.

PROJECT SUMMARY

As the Partner Relations Manager, you’ll operationalize outreach to major corporate and grantmaking foundations. This role will spend most of its time building a corporate cultivation and management strategy, forging new long-term relationships both virtually and in person, and designing bold new fundraising programs. As a representative of PAI, the manager will be responsible for elevating the organization’s programmatic accomplishments and inspiring a new cohort of corporate partners to join our mission, enabling the development team to exceed our fundraising targets.

SCOPE OF WORK

Corporate Partnerships Management

  • Work across relevant PAI teams to develop tailored pitches to align prospects with PAI’s value proposition. Support negotiations with prospects on ensuring value alignment.
  • Conduct due diligence on prospects and develop materials to present to Board and staff decision-makers.
  • Organize a cross-functional team to onboard and create meaningful engagement with new partners joining PAI.
  • Utilize a metrics-based approach to pipeline development and routinely track progress towards pipeline in PAIs CRM.
  • Cultivate and close 2-5 new partners with signed EOIs to help accomplish 2022 fundraising goals.

Partner Operations

  • Outline and design a framework for partner management and engagement across all PAI Partners: Corporations, Funders, Civil Society Organizations, and Academia.
  • Facilitate a working group across PAI for feedback and recommendations on design throughout the project's progress.
  • Coordinate systems management with CRM manager and External Operations Lead.
  • Develop assets useful in the communication of PAI Partner Operations internally and externally in collaboration with the Programs and Research Team and the Communications Team.

 

Design New Fundraising Programs

  • Venture Capital & Startup Engagement Program
  • Pilot Partnership Program
    • Conduct prospective fundraising target interviews
    • Outline and design program models
    • Budget and resource allocation
    • Program marketing and communications
    • Implementation plan and program launch
  • Support the crafting of bold, compelling proposals and grant applications that highlight our programmatic achievements and explore new opportunities, collaborating with other key department stakeholders

 

PROPOSED PROJECT TIMELINE

  • August-September 2022: Project onboarding and planning.
  • September 2022: Complete internal review. Establish PAI staff working group.
  • October - December 2022: Manage corporate partner relations. Design operations framework and new fundraising programs.
  • December 2022: Close 2-5 new corporate partners / funders.
  • January 2023: Consolidate policies and processes. Deliver an implementation plan to transition projects into practice.

 

INDIVIDUAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's and/or Master’s Degree with experience running corporate partnerships and fundraising programs.
  • Experience working in the technology sector, especially on AI-related teams.
  • Experience in client-facing professional services, ideally with some degree of interfacing with executives.
  • Experience analyzing and synthesizing information across a range of audiences.
  • Exceptional writing skills and demonstrated excellence in designing fundraising programs and stewardship communications.
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to stay on top of critical deadlines and deliver on key metrics.

 

FIRM PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Team approach to SOW. A diverse set of contributors with skills in operations, program development and management, nonprofit fundraising, and established relationships with prospective donors/funders.
  • Leadership in human-centered design and multistakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in building partnerships in emerging technology, preferably AI.
  • Previous experience, client references of partner, funder, fundraising development, and management activities.
  • Experience analyzing and synthesizing information across a range of audiences.
  • Exceptional writing skills and demonstrated excellence in designing fundraising programs and stewardship communications.
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to stay on top of critical deadlines and deliver on key metrics.
