As the 2021 Congressional Coalition of Adoption Institute (CCAI) Angels in Adoption® honoree we are seeking a mission driven servant leader that operates with compassion, integrity, and perseverance to ensure we continue to effectively serve and execute on our mission.

A Family For Every Child (AFFEC) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 child welfare organization that serves, families, children and agencies nationwide. Our mission is to find loving permanent families for every waiting child in foster care. AFFEC’s services include but are not limited to adoption agency, mentoring, host home program for homeless youth, and advocate services. Over the last 16 years, we have developed 10+ programs that assist special needs/challenging-to-place foster children in their own Forever Families. Our success is achieved through the efforts of volunteers, full-time staff, contracted adoption workers, and the collaboration of many partners. It is our goal that no family encounters undue roadblocks that prevent adopting or supporting at risk children and youth.

Executive Director Job Responsibilities: 

Board Governance:

  • Work with the Board to ensure all programs, services, strategic plans, and community outreachactivities align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Oversee implementation of all Board directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as liaison between Board and agency staff by attending all meetings and reporting tothem any changes in operations or procedures.

Organizational Operations:

  • Collaborate with and provide direction to AFFEC managers to facilitate daily and long term operations and activities of the organization.
  • Oversee hiring, training, and employee retention as well as supervision and evaluation either directly or through staff managers.
  • Explore and enhance employee benefits and professional development options.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate risk management and liability protection for the
  • Oversee and maintain the required licensing for each state we work with.
  • Ensure proper operations, maintenance, and scalability of AFFEC’s technology and information systems according to best practice.
  • Responsible for the overall management and direction of the organization in accordance with our mission, vision, and values.

Fundraising and Resource Development:

  • Work with the Development Director and team to solicit charitable donations for the
  • Develop relationships with donors and actively support all levels of giving.
  • Oversee grant writer and monitor progress for governmental and non-governmental funding.

Financial Oversight:

  • Work closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure that accurate and timely financial reportsare provided to the Board, managers, and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor adherence with agency financial policies and procedures, and support the completionof an annual independent audit.
  • Assist in development, implementation, and monitoring of AFFEC’s annual budget.
  • Submit bills and expenditures to the treasurer for reimbursement and accounting.
  • Oversee proper record keeping and manage day-to-day fiscal operations.

Community Partnership Development:

  • Serve as principal voice and face of the organization to supporters, media, and general public.
  • Work to develop strategic and operational partnerships with other community organizations, entities, and networks.

Compensation and Benefits Package:

  • Full time exempt/salaried position reporting directly to the Board of Directors.
  • Annual salary: $90,000
  • 10% Medical/Dental Stipend
  • 18 days PTO/year
  • Possible hybrid role with 3 days in office/2 days remote (work from home locally)

Executive Director Qualifications / Skills:

  • MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Business, or Public Administration preferred
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in administration of non-profit, human social services,volunteer, or public service agency
  • Strong skills in fiscal management
  • Public relations
  • Strong skills in program planning, management, scalability, and sustainability

*Note: Candidates with previous experience working with volunteers and knowledge of child abuse and neglect, families in crisis, and other social service skills are given priority.
