The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) is looking for a motivated and dedicated person to support and expand its international membership. The ideal candidate will be someone with experience in stakeholder engagement and interested in helping to build and further develop an International Non-Government Organization (INGO) of excellence and world impact for the discipline of Interior Architecture/Design.

The position of Membership Development Coordinator oversees and is responsible for carrying out all aspects of membership management, including retention, development, growth and relationship building, in addition to administrative responsibilities. This includes supporting the IFI President, CEO and Executive Board.

The successful candidate acts as an important conduit between member organizations and IFI, being both the member’s day-to-day resource and advocate for all things IFI, as well as IFI’s point person for knowing what is happening at the member’s organization, institution or company. Their insights play a direct role in ensuring IFI’s activities are designed to best serve and engage our members, in our combined commitment to elevate the profession at both the local and global level for the betterment of all society and culture.

The successful candidate will be well-organized and detail-oriented with the courage to think innovatively beyond daily administration to develop our membership offerings. Engagement with global design affairs and an interest in design policy/advocacy for the built environment is advantageous. IFI operates on a small staff, so this opportunity is especially suited for a hands-on and collaborative self-starter who enjoys developing initiatives, nurturing relationships and wishes to engage with an organization with exceptional growth and expansion possibilities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day aspects of IFI’s existing membership (communications, administration, engagement)
  • Foster a culture of relational strength and collaboration between IFI and current members
  • Recruit and cultivate relationships with prospective members across all membership categories
  • Assist with solicitation of sponsorships, advertisement opportunities and foundational support
  • Create and manage partnership and sponsorship engagement plans
  • Research prospective and current members
  • Liaise with IFI administrative team colleagues to support development of IFI events and programming to ensure offerings serve relevant member interests
  • Assist with administration of annual and biennial programs and activities
  • Enhance the value proposition and membership experience towards strengthening the Federation’s overall impact on the Interior Architecture/Design community around the world
  • Nurture strong relationships with non-members, sponsors and others
  • Ensure members receive promised value-back benefits
  • Assist team with content development and direction of IFI member communications
  • Travel for organization-related activities and events, as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Your Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years professional experience in a relevant client-facing role, including membership program management, non-profit fundraising, business development and marketing.

  • Technology – adept at working with technology with a high-level of competency with Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of appropriate digital and database programs (such as or like WordPress and Mailchimp)
  • Global awareness/sensitivity – aware of and understands the sensitivities needed for cross-cultural interactions
