Maryland Public Television Foundation Non-Profit Accountant

The MPT Foundation, Inc. is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation established in 1981 to encourage increased funding for MPT and to receive donations and grants on MPT's behalf. The Foundation also safeguards MPT's endowment funds in an effort to insulate MPT from economic hard times.

MPT Foundation is seeking a full-time Accountant who will be responsible for all accounting and general ledger activity. The Accountant will report to the Vice President of Finance.

Salary: $59,680 - $74,600 or $28.69 - $35.87 per hour

Duties include:

• Maintain General Ledger using generally accepted accounting principles, including G/L account reconciliation and bank reconciliations.
• Processing sales invoicing to accounts and following up on past due amounts.
• Processing cash receipts and credit card processing.
• Processing bi-weekly payroll and commissions.
• Prompt payment of vendor invoices.
• Maintain cash balances and investment accounts.
• Collaborate on budget and forecasting process.
• Support the monthly and annual close by ensuring that all necessary processes are completed on time and accurately.
• Participate in the annual audit by providing detailed support and related schedules.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting.

Experience: Three (3) years of accounting experience. Preference experience with the ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.

Preferred Experience: Non-Profit Accounting and QuickBooks

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
• Experience with accounting software.
• Data entry.
