Organization: Children’s Funding Project (CFP) is a nonprofit social impact organization that helps communities and states expand equitable opportunities for children and youth through strategic public financing. Through our hands-on technical assistance and collection of resources, we help advocates, policymakers, public agencies, and funders identify and align existing funding, generate new revenue, and implement strategies to administer funds to maximize their impact. About the Position: The Manager or Senior Manager, Emerging Funding Strategies (EFS) leads and grows Children’s Funding Project’s efforts to identify local economic development opportunities and other innovative strategies to finance child and youth programs and services. The Manager/Senior Manager is expected to 1) develop, field test, and refine EFS-related research, methodologies, tools, and advisory services; 2) successfully implement current EFS projects; and 3) track, document, and elevate success stories from past EFS projects. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Vice President for Strategy and Advocacy. Some travel is required.
Job Responsibilities:

- Maintain and advance CFP’s database of Emerging Funding Strategies that could be used to support child and youth programs and services, including documenting new emerging funding strategies, and adding detail about action steps required to leverage strategies, conditions of success, and examples of success.
- Oversee, guide, and implement EFS projects, including:
- Initial client screening,
- Internal client needs assessment,
- Facilitation of inquiry into local context and limitations
- Analysis of findings and creation of policy recommendations
- Client reports, presentations, and facilitation of discussion
- Internal documentation of process
- Tracking, follow-up, and documentation of post-project action taken by client
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to refine and standardize EFS engagement processes. Identify key evaluation measures, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure the success of the project.
- Develop EFS case studies for presentations and funding opportunities
- Develop EFS technical assistance tools and process for Children’s Funding Coordinators (CFCs)
- Work collaboratively with communications department to build and implement a communications plan to engage partners both within and outside of the child and youth field in EFS
- Identify and engage EFS technical assistance (TA) experts including; identifying potential partners, designing partnership parameters, establishing engagement cadence
- Prepare funding proposals for and support relationships with philanthropic organizations and other project investors.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- 5-10 years of work experience in local government, economic/housing/community development (with a focus on financing), and/or in a setting that requires knowledge and navigation of local public finance. Master’s degree or higher (in any field) plus applied experience in child, youth, or family-focused policy development, education, or public finance preferred.
- In-depth experience navigating local economic development opportunities (e.g. bonds, business improvement districts) and their regulations, and a desire to identify and learn about additional innovative strategies for financing local projects.
- Experience coaching, informing, or providing technical assistance to both public and private sector partners. Experience facilitating cross-systems collaborative groups and supporting decision makers to make evidence informed policy decisions a plus.
- Desire to build and apply knowledge of child and youth programs and services, including child care, pre-K, after school and summer programs.
- Strong critical thinking skills, able to approach complexity with confidence and strategic guidance
- Comfortable with open-ended questions and projects, where no clear precedents or guidelines exist
- Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to present ideas clearly in large and small groups
- Efficient and high quality research and writing skills
- Attention to detail and anticipation of organizational needs
- Familiarity and comfort with common technology platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite)

LOCATION: Remote with ability to travel. Work may be performed from anywhere in the United States.
COMPENSATION: This full-time, exempt position will fall into the Manager or Senior Manager level of our salary structure, depending on skills and experience. To maintain internal equity, the hiring range at the Manager level is expected to be between $75,000 and $82,500 and at the Senior Manager level between $90,000 and $97,500.
