Description

SCOPE OF WORK

The Older Adults Services Program Manager is a full-time, exempt position, at The LGBTQ Center Long Beach (The Center).  In addition to administrative functions (billing, documentation, and data tracking/reporting), the person in this role is responsible for planning and implementing activities/services that promote the wellbeing of older adults and their caregivers.  This individual must have strong knowledge of local community resources, outstanding written and communication skills, experience working with diverse populations (particularly LGBTQ+ individuals), and excellent interpersonal skills.  The person in this role will be required to attend continuing education, trainings, seminars, in-service trainings, and other professional development opportunities to stay abreast of relevant literature and to maintain familiarity with trends/changes in older adult services.

I:    FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

      A:   Administrative

  1. As needed, participate in team/department, interdisciplinary and staff meetings.
  2. As needed, assist with revision of program materials (i.e., policies and procedures, manuals, intake forms, brochures, etc.).
  3. Initiates billing and maintains proper documentation of outreach, education, consultation, support, and planning activities as required by program funding sources.
  4. Maintain an accurate/updated list of program participants.
  5. Monitor and track all activities to provide accurate and timely reports to funders.
  6. Collaborate with other programs at The Center, and other relevant partners to coordinate appropriate client referrals.
  7. As needed, assist with supervision of volunteers.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

B:   Direct Care

  1. Triage service inquiries to determine the best fit.
  2. Conduct screenings, intakes, and assessments.
  3. As needed, make appropriate internal and external referrals.
  4. As needed, provide advocacy for access to LGBTQ competent and affirming emergency/permanent housing, legal, mental health, and other social services.

C:  Program Development

  1. Develop and facilitate curriculum for social groups.
  2. As needed, develop events/activities to engage older adults.
  3. As needed, develop and update resources for caregivers of LGBTQ older adults.
  4. Represents The Center at Aging Collaborations, Working Groups.
  5. Conducts LGBTQ Older Adult Competency training for internal staff members, community organizations, and partners.
  6. Creates and updates internal Program documents such as Older Adult Services Intake Forms, Case Management Plans, Guidelines, Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, website content, fliers, brochures,

D:  Linkage to Resources / Case Management

  1. Oversees and provides service navigation and case management to program clients.
  2. Updates Older Adult Services Resource Guide and liaises with service providing organization to get up to date information on services, eligibility criteria, capacity, and referral mechanisms.
  3. Provide linkage to resources.
  4. Supports LGBTQ Older Adults to increase digital literacy and provides support with internet safety.
  5. Manages a caseload of LGBTQ Older Adult case management clients – home visits, housing, elder abuse, aging in place, care planning, advanced directives.

II:  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Gender Studies, or Public Health.
  • 3 years of experience working with and a strong understanding of the needs of LGBT elders.
  • At least one year of experience in outreach, volunteer recruitment, community organizing, marketing/public relations, and/or sales.
  • Ability to pass FBI background check.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

III:  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Gender Studies, or Public Health.
  • Bilingual/fluent (can read, write, and speak) in English, Spanish, American Sign Language (ASL), or Khmer.

 IV:  COMPENSATION

  • The hourly salary for this position is $28.
