Description

Refugees International (RI), a humanitarian organization which advocates for lifesaving assistance and protection for displaced people and refugees, seeks to hire a manager of donor relations to be a critical member of its development team. Led by the Vice President of Philanthropy, the manager of donor services will be responsible for the managing donor record keeping, conducting donor prospect research, and leading the donor stewardship process. RI does not accept government or UN funding thus enabling its advocates to speak freely and independently. This restrictive funding policy magnifies the importance of the development team in raising corporate, foundation, and individual contributions.  The manager of donor services will be a critical member of that team.

Responsibilities
Data Management

  • Manages and maintains daily the donor database with tremendous integrity and discretion.

  • Preserves, protects, and updates all donor data regularly, especially donor contact information, personal/biographical information, capacity, giving history, and other pertinent data related to giving potential.

  • Serves as the “front line” for receiving and acknowledging donor gifts.

  • Manages all gift processing, daily gift log production, data requests, mailing list requests, tax receipts, acknowledgement letters.

  • Produces regular reports on revenue, donor activity, and other aggregate donor metrics.

  • Administers database information to pull accurate donor lists, including but not limited to mailing lists for events, donor giving lists for the annual report, and comparative donor data analysis.

  • Effectively manages the tax receipt and gift acknowledgement process, mailing tax receipts and acknowledgement letters within 24-48 hours of receiving a gift.

Communication

  • Notifies fellow team members and/or prospect managers of donors’ gifts in a timely manner.

  • Updates acknowledgement letters quarterly and provides unique, well-written, tailored acknowledgements to high-level major gift donors and board members.

  • Prepares and sends contribution acknowledgment letters by either the president of Refugees International or the vice president of philanthropy.

Collaboration

  • Works closely with all development team members to steward gifts.

  • Provides support for special events (both in-person and virtual) and fulfills all logistical duties as assigned.

  • Contributes to Development strategic planning.

  • Works respectfully and collaboratively with all board members, committee members, council members, agency leadership, and fellow staff members.

  • Devises an ongoing work plan to complete annual goals.

  • Works closely with finance and operations team members to produce accurate revenue projections and reports.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of three to five years of Raiser’s Edge database management.

Skills and Competencies Required

  • Proven track record on Fundraising Databases management.

  • Excellent relationship management and development skills.

  • A keen understanding of pipeline development, revenue projection, and revenue reporting.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing, and communication skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.

  • Ability to think strategically and to implement effective plans to achieve revenue goals.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Ability to forecast needs of development team members and provide data, mailing lists, and reports in advance of rolling deadlines.

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $44,000 – $52,000 depending on background and experience.
