Manager – Fundraising & Communications Data Strategy

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager – Fundraising & Communications Data Strategy.

The Manager, Fundraising & Communications Data Strategy is a key member of the Digital Strategy and Direct Response Team, responsible for the acquisition, engagement, and retention of a wide range of constituents. This position will support the expansion of the institutions donor base by ensuring more effective constituent communication based on a fully integrated data strategy. They will leverage data-driven decision-making in all aspects of large-scale communication execution and future planning.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements and execute data list pulls for all donor communications and events using Blackbaud CRM’s Marketing Effort function.
  • Serve as the departmental liaison between fundraising teams and Data Systems to ensure mass communications & special events data list plans coincide with overall departmental strategy.
  • Coordinate with key internal teams to ensure communications data list plans follow departmental, organizational, and legal requirements & regulations.
  • Support fundraising teams in developing audience inclusion and exclusion criteria for communication data list pulls.
  • Clarify data needs with requestors to ensure data list requirements are accurate.
  • Ensure excellent data integrity. Perform quality control checks throughout the data list pull process to ensure accuracy at each step.
  • Research, develop and implement best practices for data list pull process.
  • In collaboration with other teams across Development, provide input on the development of reports that inform donor communications and engagement strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree required, with 5-7+ years of experience in a university/medical center/healthcare/non-profit or comparable corporate setting.
  • High degree of computer literacy required, specifically knowledge of MS Office package, including Outlook, Word, PPT, Excel and Advance.Excellent organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Superb communicator in both writing and speech, with major phone and in-person communications skills.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses: intellectual curiosity, kindness, integrity, and a sense of humor, even and especially in times of stress.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team .
  • Adaptability and openness to criticism.
  • Sense of urgency in completing projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Blackbaud CRM, Luminate Online
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7+ years of relevant experience in a fundraising setting required.
  • 1 year of management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of non-profit healthcare philanthropy and direct response
  • Fundamental understanding of relational database design, data queries, and reporting systems
  • Ability to identify and gather all requirements at the outset of a project
  • Ability to create meaningful data deliverables that also communicate rationale and processes to others
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Unmatched planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; adaptable and flexible to ever-evolving schedules
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member

  • Experience with direct marketing best practices, data strategy, fundraising metrics, and file segmentation techniques

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $73,770.80 – $90,395.38 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
