Description

The Leadership Giving Manager is a member of the Institutional Advancement (IA) team and responsible for oversight of the Leadership Giving Program including the strategic direction, campaign development, and effective prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors from the $1,000 - $4,999 level. The individual will oversee and manage a personal caseload of up to 250 donors and prospects.  This position requires a strategic thinker with a mission-driven, team-oriented focus.  The position requires engagement with donors through meaningful and innovative methods to move contributors through the pipeline from lower to higher levels. The Leadership Giving Manager will be a partner with departmental colleagues taking a robust institutional advancement effort to the next level.

 

Essential Functions

The Leadership Giving Manager provides a wide range of services. Applicants must have the ability to complete the following essential functions:

  • Manages and oversees department efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a caseload of leadership gifts ($1,000-$4,999) from individuals/families aligning interest with Company initiatives and developing appropriate cultivation strategies for them.
  • Oversees the leadership giving program of donors at the $1,000-$4,999 level including directing the review and qualification of donors and prospects; cultivation and solicitation plans and stewardship efforts to meet annual and quarterly revenue goals.
  • Personally manages a fluid caseload of up to 250 donors and prospects.
  • Plays a pivotal role in developing, managing and executing a solicitation strategy for each donor and prospect in personal caseload and, in collaboration with other fundraising staff, to explore effective fundraising strategies and tactics.
  • Responsible for annual revenue goals for the leadership giving ($1,000-$4,999) caseload with the introduction of multi-year gifts, planned giving vehicles and the benefits of joining the Visionary Society, as appropriate.
  • Works with Chief Development Officer and the Senior Director of Major Giving to monitors the institutional advancement plan through successful implementation to reach quarterly and annual revenue goals and ensure a highly efficient, effective, ethical and well leveraged Leadership Giving Program.
  • Works with the Senior Director of Major Giving to develop an annual leadership giving development plan including identifying targeted giving opportunities that align with organizational priorities.

Responsibilities
This position has many responsibilities.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists the IA team in developing and implementing communications and marketing materials for outreach purposes as outlined in the IA Development Communications Plan.
  • Attends Company and outside events for CT Public representation, networking etc.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Donor Management and Operations and the Middle Donor Manager II to transition donors from the Middle Donor Program to the Leadership Giving Program, thereby developing a pathway for emerging leadership givers.
  • Continually learns the details of CT Public content, projects, programs, digital and social offerings to facilitate a deep and clear understanding of fundraising goals, priorities and connections for success.
  • Ensures accuracy in donor information tracking and gift acknowledgement.
  • Ensures confidentiality of all donor information as well as the accurate and timely entry of information into CRM software.
  • Ensures recognition of leadership donors in timely, effective ways as part of the organization’s formal Recognition Program.
  • For own caseload, creates individualized cultivation and ask plans for donors and prospects based on donor interest, giving history, and CT Public priority funding needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Personally, manages a caseload of individual donors and leadership-level supporters with a primary focus on cultivating external relationships to increase giving with current and prospective supporters.
  • Presents as a considerate, culturally astute, DEI informed, sensitive and supportive colleague.
  • Serves as collaborative colleague advancing a culture of philanthropy in the department and throughout the organization.
  • Uses the CRM software (NGOC and ROI) to track donor cultivation, documentation, solicitation, acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship activities.
  • With the Director of Donor Management and Operations, effectively uses the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program (NGOC and ROI) and wealth screening databases to inform strategies and to track engagement with prospects and donors.
  • Works in cooperation with IA staff to secure project information from content, DSB, Finance and others including budgets to develop donor requests/proposals.
  • Works with the Chief Development Officer, Senior Director of Major Giving and IA team to identify strategic priorities for institutional advancement fundraising.
  • Works with the Senior Director of Major Giving, Chief Development Officer and President and CEO to cultivate and solicit select leadership prospects and donors.

Work Environment

Job functions are typically performed under conditions similar to those found in general office or administrative work.  This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, salary exempt position.  Duties are routinely performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.; however, weekend, evening, and holiday hours will be necessary. Extensive travel throughout the state is necessary and an integral part of the essential job functions.

Physical Demands
The physical activities of this position may include frequent in-person or virtual interactions.  It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods, speak clearly so others can understand, see details of objects that are between a few feet and more than a few feet away, focus on one sound an ignore others, use fingers to grasp move or assemble small objects.  High stress environment with deadline pressures. Additionally, the employee must have the ability to concentrate for extended periods with frequent interruption, understand, and relate, to the concepts behind specific ideas.  The typical physical requirements are: Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.  These physical demands, with or without reasonable accommodations, are required to perform the essential functions of this job.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in relatable field AND a minimum of five (5) years’ of direct and sustained professional work experience in a leadership gifts non-profit environment AND/OR a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Certified Fundraising Executive Credential desired, but not necessary.
