Position Summary:
The HR Specialist will provide a range of core HR services in support of the Human Resources department and Tides Advocacy clients. The HR Specialist will administer programs focused on recruiting and onboarding, HRIS maintenance, talent management, benefits, employee and manager coaching and general policy updates. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the HR department including internal teams and fiscally sponsored clients.

The HR Specialist is an exempt position and not eligible to receive overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop strong working relationships with assigned employee/client groups, as well as internal colleagues across Tides Advocacy.
· Interpret and apply employee handbook, policies, procedures, practices, and regulations consistently across assigned employee/client groups and assure compliance with applicable federal, state and local labor laws, rules and regulations.
· Onboard all employees including processing job offer letters and other onboarding procedures including answering questions for new hires.
· Coordinate with Tides HRIS team to collect new hire data and create personnel records in ADP Workforce Now.
· Ensure Tides Advocacy projects and managers adhere to best practices for preparing and processing new hires, employee changes, and other related items.
· Partner with the HR manager to run the talent management process for Tides Advocacy; support clients by sharing best practices for performance conversations and reviews.
· Act as primary liaison to the Payroll department for timely and accurate processing of all employee transactions including pay rate changes, job changes including promotions, lateral transfers, terminations, etc.
· Create thorough and client-ready job descriptions with small amounts of information, ensuring proper FLSA classification.
· Post open positions on job boards, scheduling interviews, booking conference rooms and other logistics.
· Field questions on employee benefits, provide guidance and/or direct employees to the Tides Benefits Manager.
· Collaborate with Tides Advocacy clients to help manage and provide recommendations for non-employee groups including independent contractors, canvasser programs and volunteers.
· In collaboration with the HR Manager, conduct investigations and research employee complaints for assigned employee/client groups.
· Manage HR projects and initiatives and perform other duties as assigned by HR Manager.
· Provide training and/or guidance to other team members as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Communicates effectively and efficiently in person, by phone and via email. Demonstrated ability to hold information strictly confidential.
· Advanced experience using payroll and human resources software. Proficiency with MS Office suite of products, ADP Workforce Now, Netsuite and/or Salesforce a plus.
· Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches.
· Experience working in rapid paced, complex, and changing work environments.
· Employee coaching and mentoring skills a plus.
· Enthusiastic team player with a strong commitment to create a positive and engaging work environment.
· A bias for action, strong work ethic, and desire to achieve excellence.
· Consistently exercises sound judgment and superior analytical skills.
· Understanding of local, multi-state and federal employment regulations, laws and best practices.

Education & Experience:
· Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or equivalent work experience.
· 2+ years of HR Administrator or HR Coordinator experience.
· or SHRM-CP certification preferred, but not required.
