The HR Generalist will support the agency’s mission by facilitating the recruitment, professional training, and fostering of a motivated and talented workforce within the organization.  This includes new talent acquisition and retention, overseeing and documentation of exemplary training experiences, and continued employment relations designed to grow and build an outstanding workforce for the people we serve.  The HR Generalist will focus on employee retention, onboarding of new employees, overseeing training and training records, and assisting with: facilitating employee handbook policies, employment practices and compliance, compensation, benefits, tracking employee records, and maintaining accurate data within our Human Resources Information System (HRIS). The HR Generalist will also support general administrative functions (as needed) and regularly assist the CEO develop and measure agency wide employee performance standards.

 

What’s required of this role for you to join our team?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field. HR or administrative work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.  Related Certifications will be considered.
  • Two years of experience in the Human Resources field, preferably with a non-profit organization.
  • Employment history that shows a progressive increase in duties and responsibilities.

 

What else should you bring with you to the team?

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of computer technologies, networking concepts, common desktop applications, and computer hardware.
  • Sharp skills with Windows OS, Microsoft Office and/or Google Suites.
  • Must be good with people and be able to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written; be able to pay close attention to detail; and self-prioritize.
  • Also, you should be able to take a lead role on projects!

What you’ll do as part of the team?

  • Organizational & Departmental Requirements
    • Treat all clients, parents, guardians, co-workers, supervisors, and people in the community with respect and dignity.
    • Continuous study to increase knowledge of personal centered services, The Florida iBudget Medicaid Waiver Handbook, Florida Administrative Code 65G, and Florida Statute 393 pertaining to developmental disabilities.
  • Talent Acquisition, Development & Retention
    • Post and advertise positions using innovative and comprehensive socially relevant methods.
    • Screen, schedule, coordinate and interview candidates
    • Onboard new hires.
    • Work with agency leadership to develop key performance measures for various agency positions.
    • Work with agency leadership to use key performance measures to guide managerial practices to increase employee performances on essential skills with the ultimate goal of demonstrating increased team performances across agency settings.
    • Develop programs to encourage retention.
    • Identify employee skill deficits and help employees master skills needing improvement.
    • Assist with employee recognition programs/events.

 

  • Employee Training and Employment Files
    • Oversee the delivery of all employee training, to include new hire orientation and training, re-certification trainings, and required annual in-services trainings.
    • Oversee employee training records, such that all employee have a properly organized, up to date training file containing all the required trainings consistent with Medicad Waiver Program.
  • Employee Relations
    • Facilitate and assist with benefits open enrollment and benefits administration.
    • Assist in the administration of leave compliance, including FMLA, non-FMLA medical, and personal leaves of absence.
    • Receive and process employee grievances with support and direction from Outsourced HR Director.
    • Facilitate general employee and manager counselings, employee relations issues, and terminations, with assistance from Outsourced HR Director.
    • Process and manage all workers compensation claims, with assistance from Outsourced HR Director.
    • Respond to and manage all unemployment compensation claims, with assistance from Outsourced HR Director
    • Ensure Florida minimum wage posters are posted annually and Labor Law posters are posted and updated with guidance from Outsourced HR Director.
    • Prepare, file, and post OSHA 300 logs as required.
    • Submit annual EEO1 report.
    • Assist with maintenance of personnel files including rosters, performance reviews, promotions, transfers, corrective actions, and terminations.
    • Implement applicable statutes, regulations & rulings relating to employment practices as directed by Outsourced HR Director.
    • Assist with payroll, as needed
    • Other duties as assigned
