Summary

The Government Grants Officer will coordinate and build the organization’s government grants and contracts revenue stream by identifying federal, state, and local governmental funding opportunities that are aligned with the programmatic goals and mission objectives of the organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Government Grants Officer is a key member of the Development team that is focused on growing and diversifying the organization’s revenue base, expanding networks, and deepening relationships with funding agencies and partners.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential government grant opportunities by following the progress of relevant public policy trends, legislative initiatives, and appropriations of funds to provide the earliest possible notice of grant opportunities, and stay up to date on trends and process changes in government grants
  • Share relevant federal, state, and local government grants and contracts opportunities with Development and program teams and conduct deeper analyses to determine alignment
  • Attend and report on pre-proposal conferences and webinars, and represent Prosperity Now at funder meetings, program convenings, and/or conferences
  • Serve as lead liaison with internal and external parties relevant to the process, including consultants and contractors, Development and program teams and senior leadership, and direct the development of ideas into grant proposals that are aligned with organization’s strategic and operational needs
  • Maintain detailed project plans and timelines to complete grant application submissions by deadline. Communicate the status of various tasks on project plans with key responsible parties to ensure timely submission of applications
  • Direct completion and submission of government grant applications. Write, edit and/or source and engage talent to prepare all parts of applications and submissions including, but not limited to, writing narrative, conducting research, developing budget, and compiling and submitting application
  • Work with Development, program, and operations teams to collect information needed to prepare grant submissions
  • Track, coordinate, manage and submit all required post-award reports to the funding agency, including interim and final narrative and financial reports
  • Manage subscriptions for federal, state, and city grants management systems (i.e., SAM, Grants.gov, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge of the CRM database (Salesforce) and track government funding opportunities in the system
  • Prepare dashboard reports for the Development team, the President & CEO, and the Leadership Team to review, track, and manage government funding opportunities
  • Support administrative functions of the department to ensure smooth operations, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Educational background in related area of study with at least eight years of relevant experience, including at minimum three years of experience in securing institutional funding, previous experience with securing government grants strongly preferred
  • Demonstrably strong business writing and document production skills
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work interdependently as a team-player
  • Ability to handle long and short-term assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent analytic, communication, reporting, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with a CRM system, preferably Salesforce
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
